By my understanding right handed hittes do better than left handed hitters against southpaws. Considering that most hitters in baseball are righthanded, why do GM's and managers start drooling when a lefty player hit the free agency. I'm asking this because Gil Meche and Ted Lilly got big deals despite being mediocre. As did Buerhle even tho he's good.

I knew this weekend series with KC wasnt going to be easy.
KC came into Detroit and simply played better baseball and hit the ball better. Congratulations are in order for KC! Not only did they beat The Tigers 2 of 3, but with the whiney sux loss it puts them in a tie for 4th place. One that will not let go of. It's nice to see the white sux in the cellar!

It's really fun to watch this guy play. If you don't know what I mean about the swing check out this link for an example:

I think he has potential to become an impressive homerun hitter in addition to his great batting average. Any thoughts?

What say you all about the underrated pinch hitters? You can go past and present.
To me, one of the greatest was Greg Gross of the Phillies and Joe Lebreve.
What say you all???

The grand jury has been extended for the third time. This is not Al Capone. With all the evidence that was published as fact in "Game of Shadows", why can't they get an indictment in a timely manner? With more pressing issues facing our country, why are we wasting time and resources on this? Is this really a national issue?

Earl Webb hit 67 doubles way back in 1931. No active player has come closer than 8 away (Todd Helton, w/ 59). Triples have faded into trivia, but have doubles also. It appear easier to hit home runs than to leg out a 2 base hit. Any ideas on this strange record?

There has always and will always be much speculation about who is the greatest ball player of all-time is. It is widely believed that Babe Ruth is the greatest player ever. Lets face it, the man could do it all, hit for average, hit for power, he had patience at the plate, and he could pitch exceptionally well. I have always been one to agree with this "fact", that is until further review. A question popped into my head, If Honus Wagner is considered the best all-around player ever, why isn't he considered the best player ever? Sure Ruth has all the stats to back him up, but does he really? They played at completely different times, and theire statistics are uncomparable for this reason, but let's try anyway. Wagner finished in the top 10 in home runs 11 times which at any other time period would give him close to if not past 500 career home runs. match that with 722 stolen bases and arguably the best defense a shortstop ever had and the fact he's the best avg hitter of his time,
