NO Never. And Before you say anything about Bonds. What Rose did was way worse. HE may have only bet on his team to win. BUT on the days he didn't bet, Isn't that like a bet for them the loose. So now the bookmaker can use that info. Pete as bet on the Reds for a week now. And no bet on the day that a bad pitcher is going vs a good team. umm

The accomplishments of Pete Rose ARE honored at the Hall of Fame & Museum. As they should be. To honor the life of the man is a different issue.
Q: Should Pete Rose be allowed into the hall of fame?
A: No. He knowingly broke the one unforgivable rule of Major League Baseball. He bet on games while an MLB insider. Who is dumb enough to believe Pete's claim that he "only bet to win" after the guy lied about his gambling for 15+ years?
Q: Will he ever be inducted?
A: Who can predict the future? His ban is permanent but could someday be lifted. When the shrine of baseball no longer cares about the integrity of the games and the MLB becomes the WWF, is the day I stop being a fan.

Yes he should be in the hall of fame. Pete Rose is not going into the hall as a manager. He bet on his team as a manager. He should be in the hall of fame as a player not a manager. No he probably won't be inducted because all these people don't understand this stuff.

Yes!!
What he did was wrong of course. But no worse than any other players. Ha-Ha - Cobb...remember him??
Of course what he did and being manager could ultimately decide who won the game & let him win. But...the man still is the all time hits leader. He should go in as a player based on his play, not his ethics. And yes, he was a role model and the kids...blah, blah...BLAH!!!
The guy still hit a ball like no one else could and can. Ichiro may be the only player that may catch him, and he started hitting late.
The guy was a great player period. His manigerial skills, eh..so-so. He has a disease like many players do and have had. Why then was Darell Strawberry allowed back so many times after cocaine abuse? And if we did base it on ethics, then some players may never get a chance to get in.....AND we may have to eliminate half the HOF in the process.

When the NBA scandal explodes in the next couple of weeks we will all have real time proof of why gambling is so bad for sport.
In the NBA one corrupt ref can determine the outcome of the game .In MLB one corrupt manager can determine the outcome of the game.In all cases gambling by insiders in a sport corrupt the integrity of the sport and a sport that lacks integrity rapidly deteriorates into pro wrestling .
No .The HOF should have a Rose Free Zone that prohibits Rose from ever stepping a foot into the town.

Yes, Pete Rose should be inducted. This should happen as soon as humanly possible. However, those petty Baseball Hall of Fame voters will maybe wait to induct him until after he dies. They will do it this way, so he wont be able to enjoy the honor of being a Hall of Famer. They are that much of a bunch of jerks!

I think Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame. If the writers are going to vote Barry Bonds in the Hall of Fame in the future, then they should let Rose in. I think Rose will never go to the Hall of Fame, but he should be there.

No.
Never.
Rose can be eligible for consideration when MLB reinstates him or when the Hall changes its policy. As the latter is extremely unlikely, we turn to the former -- and MLB is only going to reinstate Rose when (a) he is innocent or (b) when his term of expulsion -- which is "permanent" -- expires.
Rose clearly had far less respect for his career and his reputation than his many supporters and apologists do, and I don't understand why they maintain such high regard for someone who doesn't reciprocate.
If the dark day comes that Rose does get a plaque, it should be made of black cast-iron.

I used to think yes, in fact about 7 years ago I signed a petition at Harry Caray's restaurant in Chicago saying so. But since he's now admitted he bet on baseball, and on the Reds, he'll never get in and shouldn't get in.

He did violate one of their sacred rules, he bet on baseball while in the sport. There are those who say that his gambling went back to his playing days. For his accomplishments on the field, he certainly rates induction, but according to the rules of the Hall, he can't be inducted, because he's banned. If they were to let him in, they'd have to let Shoeless Joe Jackson in, he was banned for the same reason, but his numbers are also worthy of consideration.
