I think he has potential to become an impressive homerun hitter in addition to his great batting average. Any thoughts?

He does have a very nice swing. I see him hitting 40 HRs for a couple seasons, but I think he's more of a contact hitter.

Of course, Mantle was a switch hitter and hit for quite a bit more power, But I can see your point, there are some similarities in their swings. Mauer is more of a line drive hitter and I don't believe you will see too many 30+ homerun seasons out of him.

Joe Mauer does have an amazing swing, and I do see him becoming an even more successful baseball player.

Would that be his left handed swing or right handed swing?
If he only bats one way, at best he could only be half as good.
