Everyone knows about the Red Sox's Curse of the Bambino, or the Cubs' curse of the "billy goat", but why was it that the White Sox "curse" never got any play? Their drought was actually two years longer than the Red Sox's (88 years to 86).

I'm a die-hard Mets fan, but I also like the Red Sox and I sometimes wonder why Bill Buckner got all of the blame for blowing game 6. If it weren't for Stanley's wild pitch, The ball between Buckner's legs would have only been the tying run.

You have a lot of milestones being reached this season. Not just Bonds and his chase of the home run record, but also Frank Thomas and A-Rod approaching 500 HR, Biggio getting his 3000th hit, and Glavine approaching 300 wins.

But it seems like not much of a deal is made, even in New York, of the fact that Pedro Martinez is two Ks away from 3000 strikeouts, which to me seems a pretty big milestone. Why do you think that is? It's not like he's gone for the season.

I haven't seen YABQ (Yet Another Bonds Question) in at least 15 minutes. This is a disgraceful slippage in Y!A standards! We need MORE BONDS questions! What might be some good ones?

Like:
Does Bonds really kick puppies?

How often does Bonds steal candy from babies?

Is it true that Bonds has his financial advisors buy up mortgages on orphanages just so he can foreclose and put everyone on the street? But he only does it during cold winters?

Not enough Bonds! More, more!

Where I live I don't get any Yankee games...and I really pay more attention to National League games, teams, and players. I was just wondering what Kei Igawa's problem has been this season. I remember Posada and Giambi hyping him up calling him the best pitcher in camp, and the next Roger Clemens. But I seen on yahoo sports that Hughes woud replace him in the rotation and it's no wonder looking at his numbers. Velocity problems? Command problems? Was he overhyped? I'm just wondering.

I realize that this is a what if question, but I wondered about that when i saw the recent schedule. I kow every time Bonds comes to the plate, a special baseball is put in place. I think the person would have kept the ball myself. Now he has a chace to break record in Milwaukee or Atlanta. Hank Aaron played for both of those teams. How ironic is that? By the way, I am not a fan of Barry Bonds.

I am a mother with a husband and boys that love baseball. I come on this site once in a while to see if I can learn something and keep current with the game my family loves. When reading many answers there seams to be a lot of anger and hate coming from many of you and there is nothing for me to learn from that. Here is your chance to pat some of your own on the back. I have read many answers from Craig S. and they always seem to be informative and I get something out of it. Can you give me the names of others on this site that consistently provide good answers and those I should pay attention to when they respond.

I can't decide if I should be happy when he breaks the record.
On the one hand, he is a world class jerk, hated by teammates and media alike, as well as baseball fans everywhere except for San Francisco.
On the other hand, even though I'm convinced that he used steroids, I'm equally convinced that there are more pitchers than position players who used steroids. It seems like the steroid use is a wash, and not an advantage.

Convince me one way or the other.
