The Yankees and baseball would be better without him. He hasn't yet got the idea that pitching helps a team once in a while and it was his money plan that made so 2nd graders know more about the money in baseball than they do about doubles. A person with the sense to let knowledgeable baseball people in on the discussion of who should be on the team would be a lot better.

Yes the Yanks would be better without him. First off the Yanks organization is a revenue generating machine and was long before George came along so whoever owned them would have the money to spend.
Also take a look at the Yanks last two championship era's. They both followed Steinbrenner suspensions. This allowed the baseball people to make the decisions without interference from George. Look at those players who made up the core the championship teams of the 90's. Jeter, Pettitte, Williams, Posada, Rivera. They were developed by the system. They weren't going out and spending a ton of money on every superstar free agent. They complimented the core of the team by adding hardworking smart ballplayers. They made good trades and got some good bargin free agents.
But after Steinbrenner's suspension ended he started messing around and losing draft picks for signing free agents and trading prospects away for bloated contracts.

No because Steinbrenner is the Yankees. Without him the yankees would be o better than the Devil Rays.

with steinbrenner has brought nearly half of the yankees WS titles to new york and he is super-rich which gives the yanks a huge pay roll every year. Sure I hate the guy but i know his importance.

IN MY OPINION, YES. THE YANKEE'S HAVE A TRADITIONAL SPIRIT. TO ME THERE IS A HIGHER POWER THAN 'THE BOSS', LOOKING OUT FOR OUR GUYS. WHEN YOU THINK OF WHAT THEY HAVE ACCOMPLISHED, WITHOUT STEINBRENNER, YOU KNOW THEY WOULD BE O.K., WITHOUT HIM. GRANTED, HE DID BRING THEM BACK, FROM THE HORRIBLE 70'S., BUT YOU LOOK AT THE TALENT THEY HAD, WITHOUT STEINBRENNER'S MONEY, AGES AGO. IT IS IN THEM, NOT THE OWNER. THEY PUT ON THOSE PINSTRIPES, AND FEEL PROUD TO BE A YANKEE.

No, because with his money. they get all their talent spending lots of money. the yankees will only do as good without george when his son takes over as he will be another big spender.

No because even though he bought the teams and didn't wait for prospects to develop, he put his whole heart into the team because he wanted them to win.
