To Thin Kaboudit: I have nothing against Aaron. Actually, I respect Aaron's decision, but I wanted to get a read on what the nation is thinking. Thanks for the input.

I don't think it's so much a matter of selfishness as it is Aaron wanting to avoid controversy. Like it or not, the record when Bonds does break it will be considered tainted by many.

If Aaron were to be on hand and be available for comments/interviews, the steroid question would no doubt be thrown his way. I don't think he has anything against Bonds; he just doesn't want to put himself in that situation.

He's Hank Aaron. If he doesn't want to be there he doesn't have to be there. Maybe he's 73 years old and would probably rather not tour the country with the Giants waiting for him to hit homeruns. When we're discussing selfishness in a situation with Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds, we're calling HANK AARON the selfish one? Have you ever seen a Barry Bonds interview?

Actions speak louder than words. As far as Aaron is concerned he is the Home Run King. As for not being there his reasoning is that he has a life, and does have weeks to waste travelling to watch somebody break his record. While this may be his verbal reasoning, in the back of his mind he is merely stating his opinion on the steriod situation. By not being there he shows his dissapproval of Barry Bonds.

No.

Bonds cheated his way to the top. He admitted to using both "the clear" and "the cream" in the BALCO scandal and has been long rumored to have used other designer steroids and HGH.

If I was Hank, I'd call him out for it and tell him that he doesn't deserve the crown and the only time he will get recognized is when Arod takes it from him in a few years.

I'm an avid baseball fan. Bonds has used the game to become filthy rich. Bonds is a jerk. Mr. Aaron has made his choice for his own reasons. Those reasons are no ones BUSINESS except his own.

Aaron believes just like the other 99% of baseball fans - that Bonds' record is B.S.!

Not at all. Bonds could be stuck at 755 for weeks. It wouldn't be fair to send Aaron all across the country for an extended period of time just to see his own accomplishment be replaced.

Hank is trying to be nice but he should just say what he dislikes or is upset about. I know he probably wants to stay away from the situation, but regardless he should support whoever breaks that record as shoul fans applaud Barry for the accomplishment

How is that being selfish? He doesn't believe Bonds deserves the record because he used roids so he won't go. He should just come out and say it but if he does the media will get on him and he probably won't enjoy it.

Henry Aaron is an honorable man who earned his record honorably.
Truly honorable men do not pay homage to dishonorable men-nor should they.
