He was an old, achy man (for baseball, anyway), only played about 25 more games after that, almost always as DH or a pinch-hitter. No one knew that was his last dinger, of course, and the Brewers were not fighting for any particular standing; but Aaron simply was not the team's best choice to go out and play every day.

And he just never went deep again. So that was the last one, the final record mark, and no one realized it until well after the fact.
