Is started about a month ago, it has six teams, three of them managed by Jewish legends of the MLB- Ron Bloomberg, Art Shamsky and Ken Holtzman. Sandy Koufax is a PLAYER (yes, player, at the age of 71) on one of the teams, but he doesn't actually attend the games, i suppose it's just for publicity.

before or since 2001?! His next best season was 2000 when he hit 49 homers. Seems a little suspicious at the very least. My guess is that he just couldn't stand to see Mark McGwire hold the single season record, it was just killing him inside. And that's not to say I support Mark McGwire because I think he juiced up to get 70 homers, anyway. I consider McGwire a cheater, too.

and then they had to pinch run for him on the homerun. I think it was against Toronto. I just remembered that after reading a question.

I do not respect Barry Bonds but not because of the steroid issue.

I do think there was a good chance he took steroids but then again, baseball basically allowed steroids in the 80's and 90's because baseball wasn't getting many fans...a lot due to the strike in 1994. Baseball was low in attendance and needed some help so steroids took over and brought the fans back to the game for the long ball.

Anyway, I do not respect Barry Bonds because of the way he plays. If you have watched any of his games, he does not hustle AT ALL. If he hits a ground ball, he walks to 1st. Just today, he was on 1st and there was a double play ball. Most baseball players run as hard as they can to try to screw up the throw. Barry Bonds just jogged to 2nd. There is no excuse for that. You are trying to win ball games. You have to put full effort out there. And don't give me the, "He is getting old" or the "His team stinks" crap. You play the game at 110% and try to win. You don't just try to break a record.

I was reading iver the rules of the baseball tryouts and i came upon this "Participants must be at least 16 years of age. No players selected by a Major League team other than the Houston Astros in the 2007 June Free Agent Draft will be eligible to participate in the tryout camps." does this mean i cant just walk up and tryout???

this yrs. voting is a good example of what is wrong with the baseball hall of fame voting system. the 8 writers who didnt vote. have brought up new conversations about what is wrong with the system of voting in the hall of fame. what should be done to fix this and how? should the voters who didnt vote at all have their status as voters reviewed and possibly suspended or revoked?

When Roger Marris broke the 60 home ruin record held by Ruth in '61 the record books had an asterik next to it because he broke the record in a season that was longer than the one ruth hit in. Should Bond's record have an * next to it if it is found that he use steroids?

How come they say it is a race issue because bonds is black when the persons record he is breaking is also black.

His best friend and personal trainer, Anderson, refuses to testify for the grand jury? The man was at the center of BALCO, is Bonds' best friend and personal trainer, but we're expected to believe Anderson wasn't providing him with steroids?

He's been in jail an awfully long time now. If he didn't have anything to hide about Barry, he wouldn't have sat in a jail cell for the better part of a year.

It's painfully obvious Bonds has used steroids and did so knowingly.

People need to wake up.

I've been offered Brandon Webb for Carmona and Weathers. I'm considering this offer and I don't think Weathers lasts until the end of the month as the closer and Carmona has been hot lately.

My team is in need of improvements in WHIP, ERA, and K's.

What should the Indians do with Cliff Lee? He gave up more hits to the first 3 batters this game than Fausto Carmona gave up all last night. He's given up 5 runs. They can't send him down to the minors, and he has been so good over the past few years releasing him could be a problem. He has shown his 2005-2006 form briefly of a few starts this year. He is only 27 or 28 so it's not that he is to old. They have pitchers in AAA that could do much better than him.

With the LSU boys taking over the middle-infield, where does DeRosa fit (certainly RF is a stop gap).

Ultimately, I think we should keep him in case Fontenot/Theriot get cold.

I don't think he is if you just look at his MLB Stats. However if you compile all of his pro hits he has the third most all time.

Major Leagues: 2576 (through July 8, 2007)
Minor Leagues: 618
Mexican League: 316
Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball: 286
Dominican Winter League: 267
South Korea's Korean Baseball Organization: 156
TOTAL (through July 8, 2007): 4,219

He would of easily had 3,000 MLB hits if he had not left for Japan due to the strike.

I believe that you must play in the MLB to become hall bound, but if they have a significant amount of other experience such as Julio Dice K and Ichiro other parts should be considered also.

Julio has a batting title, 3 all star appearances, an all star MVP award, many records as the oldest player.

Personally I would vote for Julio, but he has been one of my favorites for a long time.

With Barry Bonds possibly going to crack Hammerin' Hank's record, I remember the video where Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's record. Two guys ran onto the field and caught up to him on Hank's way to third base to congratulate him. Did they ever get their names in the paper?

Barry Bonds has killed baseball as far as i'm concerned. He was not the root of the problem, but he's the last nail in the coffen. I "was" a life long fan of baseball, and now i'm gone. If they even allow him to break Hank's record by way of the joice, then i'll never watch another game again. It's hard for this life long Cubs fan to walk away, but i will. True Baseball had died with the strike, but the last hope will be washed away this season. Does anyone else agree?
