no doubt about it. if he is proven to have taken steroids which people speculate was around 1998 he could have retired before, at the end of 1997 and still have HOF numbers, he was a great base stealer with 417, had an outstanding glove with 7 gold gloves, 374 homers, 288 BA, 7 all-star games in 11 seasons, and all that with only 1750 hits. the man is obviously the best to ever play the game. thats only in 11 seasons. also since he never did take steroids, he is the greatest to ever play and deserves a spot in the HOF. He also created a club, 500 homeruns and 500 steals. He is the only major leaguer to ever do that. That and that alone is enough to get him in.

Bonds has taken a hostile stance toward the Hall of Fame. Why? My best guess is he knows he is going to be hauled into court and the Feds have enough evidence to convict him. He'll probably get banned in a manner similar to Pete Rose and that will be the end of it.

Maybe Barry is keeping all his memorabilia to open up his own Hall*.

If he is not inducted on the first ballot then BBWA are f_cking dickheads! People need to get it through their heads that this all just a stupid accusation. He was never tested postive. And let's say he did take them, he didnt, but lets say he did. It was not any earlier than that 2001 season. Before that season, he was approaching 500 HRs. That is a guarantee ticked to the HOF cuz either way he would get there. He already had 3 MVPS. Already a couple of Gold Gloves. He could've retired in 2000 and still made the HOF.

YABQ.

Bonds, as of now, will meet the Hall's conditions for eligibility for consideration. (This could change but does not appear likely.) No one is guaranteed to appear on the ballot; the screening committee could deny him that, though I find that hard to imagine. Finally, the writers could deny him through the voting process, though I also find this hard to imagine. Bonds' career has been sterling-silver greatness start to present to eventual finish. It may be a little tarnished and scratched, but it is still silver. In time, I think he cannot be denied.

I would put my money on Pete Rose to get in the HOF before Barry Bonds.

i hate the guy, but he had hall of fame numbers before he blew up into the Michelin Man. therefore i think he goes into the hall on the first ballot. it sucks, but it will happen.

only if they change the name to Cheaters Hall of Fame. then, he will be the first one inducted, quickly followed by Canseco, Giambi, Palmeiro, McGwire, etc., etc.....

Why not? The only way I don't see him getting in is if some one proves he has done steroids. I don't remember anyone proving he took steroids.(To the guy above who said he has gotten caught already.)
