They aren't even the worst franchise in the MLB, so if you are a Pirates fan, don't freat. I would say the Cubs and Phillies are lower on the totem pole, even though Pittsburgh's front office is terrible.
And then outside of baseball, the Clippers of the NBA, the Grizzlies of the NBA, the Lions of the NFL, the Saints of the NFL, and the Blackhawks of the NHL are all worse-er franchises. And there are probably more.
I mean, the Pirates have 5 World Series Championships under there belt, there's no way with that stat alone they are the worse professional sports franchise. While their front office does nothing to help the team, a front office alone does not make an organization.

i could say that the Mariners have the worst franchise in all of the majors no longer Pittsburgh, pittsburgh has won 5 worldwide sequence considering they began and the Mariners have won none, the lower back the pirates are ninety 5 years older the Mariners. i think of that the main to Pirates victory is persistence and quietness, they the concepts that they used whilst that they had Roberto Clemente and Ralph Kiner. Basicly all i'm asserting is they want extra concepts and not purely aroung like phonies.

I think the question was in the present and they definitely rank up their with some of the worst teams at the moment but my vote goes for the Oakland Raiders and the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have championships in their history (before it was called the Super Bowl) but as a Browns fan, I gotta tell you they have sucked horribly in the past decade or so.

No, they used to be vey good, won the series a few times.
The worst is a tie between the Arizona Cardinals & the LA Clippers and the Devil Rays and I'm a D-Rays fan.
Just my opinion.

I don't think so, because they won a few championships, I'm sure that there are professional sports teams that have never won a championship and have been around for years, as long as the pirates have been around.

For the last 15 years but in Clemente's time they were good. What about the Phillies or White Sox?

This year? Ever? No way! The Rangers have more losses if you're talking about this year, and the Phillies now have the most losses of any franchise ever.
