In response to Georgie,
The Red Sox magic number is 58.
The magic number belongs to the team in first.
Detroit's magic number is 65 with Cleveland only one game behind. Watch out for the tribe!

Sorry to disappoint you, but johndoe3214 made that whole story
up completely. The Dodgers won that game 5-4.

Anyways, though I haven't been able to find the worst loss of all time for sure, a close bet would be when Cleveland beat the Yankees in 2004: a score of 22-0. Oh, and I just noticed that the article also mentions that the "biggest post-1900 shutout margin in the major leagues" was "Pittsburgh’s win at the Chicago Cubs on Sept. 16, 1975."
It was also a win by 22 points. Guess that answers your question!

The biggest shutouts have been a pair of 22-0 smokers, one by the Pirates over the Cubs in 1975 (Rennie Stennett went 7-for-7, a record for a nine-inning game), the other by the Indians over the Yankees in 2004. Box scores below.
The overall largest margin is likely the 36-7 shellacking that the Chicago Colts (now Cubs) gave to the Louisville Colonels on 29-June-1897, a margin of +29.

It was the Dodgers victory over the Yankees in the 3rd game of the 1981 world series in which the Dodgers won 26-1. The Yankees scored a lone run in the top of the ninth inning After a single an uncontested steal of second and two fly ball outs to get a run in.

That's a blowout, reminds me of the 22-0 win the Indians had over the Yankees in 2004.
