The true legends like the Babe would dominate in any era.

If Ruth played today, as he was and without the benefits in terms of conditioning and coaching that players get today, he would never be able to play at the MLB level.

The level of play is much much better now than in his era, pitching especially. Pitchers pre-Koufax cannot even been compared to pitchers of today. Koufax improved the curve ball to a whole new level -- not just by throwing it, but through the studying and coaching after his playing days.

The big reason that pitchers today cannot throw as many innings as in Ruth's era, is because the pitches they throw require so much more torque on the elbow, especially the slider.

The pitches that batters face today are much more wicked than in Ruth's era, they have tighter breaks and more speed. I'm not saying anybody today can throw faster than Feller or Ryan, just that there are more guys throwing 95+ than ever before, they have better control, and they mix the speed with hard breaking stuff.

Ruth would see more LH Pitching today which would bring down stats for most LH Batters. But Ruth hit 30% of his HRs off LH Pitchers so I'm not sure whether that would affect him.

The Ruth we see in video would not be able to hit pitchers of today. But if a guy born with his talent, and especially with his power, had grown up in a baseball country with good coaching he would now be into an HOF career. He'd be LH Albert Pujols, and like Pujols he'd have a crack at the HR record if he could stay healthy and have a long career.

they have already done studies and he would have around or even more than 1100 home runs and would easily have the record for most hits in a career, he would easily be the most dominant player in baseball no matter what time period he played in and he would be the best by a long shot. as for pitching i believe he would win about 3 or 4 Cy young awards because when he pitched he was amazing, an average season for Ruth was 20-10 2.38 era, so i think he would qualify to be a dominant pitcher as well

He would have been corrupted by today's writers and media outlets. You think he could have run naked through the streets of NY like he did in the 1920's with out being ripped by society? Pedro Martinez would have also bean him. As to actual numbers, I think he would of hit less home runs. Today's style of play would have totally killed him.

I think he would play in the NL and play right if he wasn't pitching. He would be as valuable as the pitcher in the minors who can pitch with both arms. He's in the minors and is a team's 1st and 3rd starter.

I think that Ruth possibly would be a 10-game winner. He would do a lot better as a hitter. He would have about a .335 average. This is only my humble opinion.

i agree with bambino 55 and just to add an explanation to his answer is the walls were close to a hundred feet back when the babe played therefore now he would have more hrs LOTTS
and the balls they used were heavier old ratty and not changed every pitch the balls now are corked which gives it a lighter weight that allows it to travel farther in todays game

but my vote goes to bambino 55

I think he would pitch in the NL and when he doesn't pitch he would play left field.

he would be a outfielder. he would never pitch because they would want him to play everyday. home runs would be more also because of the smaller ballpark fences.
