Nolan Ryan in both cases. Clemens does have a lot of playoff experience so I'd love to have them both. If I had to choose only one, it would be Nolan.

Roger "Rocket Man" Clemens. Some say Nolan since his won/loss record was 500 they chose Clemens but if Nolan played for better teams his record would have been better. Look at the teams Nolan pitched for Angels, Rangers, Astros & he came up with the Mets. They did win World Series that year but don't know if he played. I just think Clemens is an all around better pitcher & this is only my opinion

Well if Nolan Ryan still played and was in his prime, then definitely Nolan Ryan both season and World Series. He is and was a way better pitcher than Roger Clemens could ever be. More no hitters than any other pitcher in the history of baseball? C'mon! However if I had to choose today and they are in the physical condition they are in today then I would have to pick Roger Clemens because Nolan Ryan is getting older and I'm sure he is not at his peak now.

Clemens. He is simply a better pitcher than Ryan was.
Now having said that, I have to take issue with Eric M.
"Nolan wasn't ANYTHING great, all he did was strike out a freakishly high number of people."
Whoaaa. Slow down there, cowboy. Ryan won 300 games, and there's a reason that number is considered one of the "automatic" Hall of Fame numbers. It's not easy to reach. Also, striking out a "freakishly high number of people" is a great accomplishment in my opinion. Have you ever tried to strike out one of those guys? They're pretty good at putting wood to horsehide. And let's not forget, the man threw 7 no hitters! Do you realize how incredible that is? No-no's are generally looked upon as flukey accomplishments because of their rarity. However when you throw 7, it's not a rarity to you. It's something that you are a legitimate threat to do any time you step on the mound. And finally, let's not forget that in 1993, Nolan Ryan hit Robin Ventura with a pitch, and the 26 year old Ventura charged the mound...where he was promptly put into a headlock and took a few closed fist shots to the face from Ryan. Ryan was 46 years old at the time.
Nolan was several things. "Great" was just one of them.

Clemens is one of the best pitchers of all time. Nolan Ryan was a .500 pitcher who struck out a lot of guys. There's really no comparison.

Roger in a heartbeat. I'd use Ryan if I absolutely had to have a strikeout, but Clemens is the best.
