Why does race matter in this...it does not. It basically boils down to 90% of white people actually believe everything the media tells them, while 40% of black people think the same about the media- A pretty useless fact.
What people do not realize is that sports reflect the society. The same bully/ mob mentality these people have for pre-judging Mr. Bonds without indisputible proof is no better than if he did take steroids- neither are coming to the conclusion or the record the correct way.

What I don't understand is why people think a guy HAS to have used steriods to get as big as he did from working out.
Some people naturally have a high level of growth hormones and can easily get that big without juicing.
I don't see any race-baiting in the question - indeed there may be a racial component, but it may have more to do with what blacks know about their race combined with an equal amount of ignorance on the part of whites.
Case in point -- 40+ years ago, my best friend growing up was mulatto, and his black father was a weightlifter who was HUGE - well before steroids were used for anything more than injuries or emergency medicine. If he could do it, so could Bonds. Get over it!

I don't see that it's a racial thing at all. The controversy is strictly over the steroid issue, and perhaps the fact that Bonds' personality does not exactly endear him to a lot of people.
After all, it's another black man who currently holds the record which Bonds is about to break. So where's the racial thing in that??

You say that steroid use is "rampant for all races" than why don't 90% of blacks agree that Bonds took steroids. Actually, about 90% of blacks and whites believe McGuire took steroids. None of us should prejudge any of the players because none of us have a clue as to the real story. What we do know is that neither Bonds or McGuire have ever tested positive for any of the (53) banned drugs that have been tested for since the year 2001. Why can't we just leave it at that and not try to make it a black and white issue?

It is because there are a lot more white people than black people in America. So that means that even if a few white people like Lupe Fiasco or some other black artist given the large number of white people there are going to still be a lot of white people at that concert.

I dont care about the roids anymore because many other players used them as well. You cant just single out Bonds anymore.
My beef with Bonds is the fact that he's a flat out jerk who doesn't show any respect to anyone. IMO he plays to get his stats and wins come secondary. If he was a nice guy people could of looked past the roids and would be rooting for him to get the record. with McGwire people are dissapointed with him but I think if he were to resurface and come clean about it people could forgive. McGwire has for the most part been a real nice guy. You cant say that about Bonds.
Hell Charles Barkley said the same thing. His qoute about Bonds was "He is one of my friends, but he's not a nice person." and THAT is why I think people are rooting against him to break Aarons record.

well I don't think it is a racist thing since they are both black. I guess black people either overlook the steroids because he is black or root for him anyway because of that despite the fact that the record he is breaking belongs to a black person that didn't cheat.

Bonds is the poster -boy of steroids because of his body change and his stats. change was far greater than anyone else because of steroids. Way more than 40% of blacks know that Bonds is a juicer - they just don't care.

We live in a racist society and baseball has always been racist. History has always shown that no records in baseball have ever been erased. Now, that Bonds, being black; many want his records erased. Baseball has always embraced white racist players for years. If baseball named every player who has used illegal drugs, 4/5 of the Hall of Famers would be out. If baseball erased records before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier, there would be very few Hall of Famers. Baseball has a nasty history of embracing racists.
By the way, Mr. Bonds purchased uniforms and gloves for my summer league team.

The big head, and the pimples on his face. I don't think blacks care who or how the record is broke as long as it is a black.
