I think since they were one of the best players of their generations they should be in, since numbers look out of whack with the steroids.

Hodges, yes. Was the equal of his Dodgers teammates- Reese, Snider, Robinson, and Campanella- who are already in the Hall.

Garvey, no. I liked Garvey, and he was durable. But for a guy whose career lasted as long as it did, he does not have spectacular offensive numbers

I will pass on Santo- there is no good answer. I will only say his legend has grown as he's gotten older and I don't think people who saw the game in the 1960's think of him as a Hall of Famer

Murphy, no. Did notput up the great power numbers long enough to get HOF consideration.

Wills, no. Again, was very talented but the Hall of Fame requires the type of season Wills had for a 10 to 15 year career, not simply a great three year stretch.

It's funny how many people say 'no' to Ron Santo. In fact, just looking at a statistics line, I guess he looks like a 'no'. But notice how many people say 'yes' anyway. No one who saw the man play could say 'no'. He was GREAT, and the hall is about great, right? Hodges belongs for the same reason. The only other one on the list who might deserve it is Maury Wills. He changed the style of play in baseball for 2 decades. His 104 stolen base year was epic in its day. Murphy and Garvey are border liners and I would argue for or against them. Only Santo and Hodges are being robbed, though.

Certainly Garvey and Wills, but I don't think the stats support Hodges and Santos. Dale Murphy needs looking into

I have alwyays found Garvey's low-vote totals surprising. I know his power numbers were not huge and that he had his scandals, but he was the best 1b in the NL for a decade. But since he did not get to 3,000 career hits or other notable milesones I will say no.

Dale Murphy had six great years from 82-87, but really tallied off dramatically. He was an OK player before he hit his prime. His career numbers just don't stack up to be in the prestigious HOF.

Everyone says Santo was the best 3B of his generation, but this was before my time. It is hard for 3b to get in.

Hodges and Wills were before my time. Wills didn't play long enough did he?

So since the HOF should be reserved for the elite, I will pass on all of them

The only player of the group that I never saw play in person was Gil Hodges. All of your above players are borderline HOF and, for different reasons, probably will never make it. All were very good players but, I believe, fall short of the high standards required for the HOF. Let me also say that I have always been a Dodger fan and three of the above players were favorites of all Dodger fans .

Yes, absolutely: Santo!

I could see it, but it's not about to happen and really I'm okay with that: Murphy.

No, though he does get to be The Best Player Not In The Hall after Santo gets inducted: Hodges.

No -- just, no: Garvey, Wills.

Hodges--not enough numbers as a player or manager.
Garvey--a poor fielder, not that great a hitter, not even close, really.
Santo--yes, it's a disgrace that he's not in.
Murphy--flamed out too soon to really make it.
Wills--other than stealing bases, not that great a player.

i'm hoping no longer, because of the fact he could be an outstanding "yardstick" participant for baseball. form of like that factor on the leisure park that asserts, "you need to be this tall to bypass in this experience." thus, it may be, "you need to be extra appropriate than this participant to get into the HOF." no longer something own against Murph, I do exactly no longer see him as a HOFer. He did no longer even hit 4 hundred HRs. . . .

The hall should be voted on by members of the hall. Until they take it out of the hands of the sports writers there will always be players that should be in that are not.
