1B- Andy Phillips: he has really good potential at first and i think that he will be a nice assest to the club
2B- Robbie Cano: odviously he's a guy who the team could be potentially built around. he's a future all-star
SS- Derek Jeter: well, what is there to explain
3B-Alex Rodriguez: i'm really hopping that he doesn't opt out of his contract, hes just figuring out how to handle ny and the media, and isnt bothered by it anymore
LF- Hideki Matsui: he's great defensivly and offensivly
CF-Melky Cabrera- he has a good arm, much better in center then damon
RF- Bobby Abreu- once he gets going he'll be doing fine right?
C- Hip Hip Jorge!: i really hope that they resign Jorge. he's a great team player, hes phenominal, one of my favorite yankees
DH- shelley duncan: he's got a great swing, and i think that he could proove to be very valuable, not only as aDH but as a good utility player, he can play any position so if someone's injuried, he can fill in.

PH/PR: Johnny Damon: theres

damon- theres no need for another outfielder, but he is an important player on teh team right?

as far as giambi goes, i think hes washed up and useless, they should get rid of him, and put the money they were paying him into young rookie pitchers for the minor league system.

if arod opts out, what do you think they will do for a third baseman?

also, who will catch if posada leaves? they just signed molina, but isn't he a back up catcher?

also, if mo leaves we need a closer

okay anyway, let me know what you think, because im starting to freak out about some of my favorite players being traded (mo, jorge, arod) and stuff like that, so do you think that this "lineup" is a possibility for next year? thanks guys! go yankees!!!

The Yankees would be better with Damon in the lineup than Duncan. When one third of your batting order consists of Phillips,Cabrera, and Duncan you are not going to have a winning team. The Yankees problem this year has not been their offense it is their pitching, and you have not said anything about what you would do there. Go back to the drawing and come up with something better.

The problem with that scenario is that Stein is not paying Damon and Giambi 30+ mil to sit the bench.

I think A-Rod opting out is pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point. Even if he wants to ride it out in NY Boras won't let him under his current contract given the season he is having. I doubt that he would be able to get the kind of money he will this offseason than he would if he played out his deal.

As for Shelley Duncan, I think we should wait and see where he is two months from now before penciling him into next year's lineup. We are talking about a guy who hit just .249 at AA last year.

What's wrong with that lineup right now? It's working. Make it an order of: Melky, Derek, Abreu, A-Rod, Matsui, Posada, Cano, Duncan, Phillips. If Cano becomes a better contact hitter, you can alternate him with Melky. If Posada slips next year (catchers are usually slipping and switched to other positions by his age, anyway), move Cano and Duncan up.

1B-Andy Phillips (if he get injured than shelly duncan)
2B-Robinson Cano without a doubt
SS-o captain my captain- derek jeter
3B-Alex Rodriguez
LF-Hideki Matsui
CF-Johnny Damon(if any of the fielders get injured then Melky Cabrera.
RF-Bobby Abreu
C-Jorge Posada
DH- Shelly Duncan-for a rookie he already got 2-3 home runs and 7 RBI's i mean seriously he jus came up on friday and he's already a big threat in major league baseball to any pitcher.

Yes,but with no Phillips,Phillips is just a fluke who cant deal with his problems.I want him traded now.Cano is a future hall of famer,300 hitter and all time player.Jeter is the best, end of story.A-rod will stay and finish his career with the Yankees and hit 800+ home runs.Matsui will be traded one day.his defense is not great and his hitting is sub-par.Melky is a great player, best defensive player in the outfield so far.Posada will stay, duh.he will probably will the batting title and get in the hall of fame.as for Duncan, only time will tell.so far,so good.

I keep every1 except 4 Abreu. Unless he gets really hot, I wouldn't keep him. U can find a better RF.

Duncan has played for 2 or 3 games and all of a sudden he's a god to Yankee fans. He needs time to prove himself.

The Yankee line up nevers worries me...

It is their pitching and chemistry that seems to be the issue here.
