I am a big Red Sox fan. Say I was up in the Green Monster at a Red Sox game, and the other team hits a home run and I get the ball. Personally, if I got the ball and it was hit by a big rival of the Red Sox, I would throw it back. Could I get thrown out of the game by security for doing that?

No, it is perfectly OK to throw it back. Just as long as you do it immediately and not wait until action is started again.

Yes you could. All stadiums prohibit throwing objects onto the field, and a baseball is certainly an object. But I think it would be highly unlikely you'd get tossed for it unless you did something else to rile up the security people.

Perhaps their only concern would be the fact that it could hit a player who wasn't expecting the ball to be returned and wasn't watching for it. At Wrigley Field, the Cubs fielders all know the ball is going to come flying back, and are ready.

Yes you can be kicked out of a game for throwing a ball back, except for a Wrigley field for some reason. Other ball parks consider this to be interfering with game/ trespassing. Chances are most people wouldn't mean to, but imagine if you hit a player doing this. MLB organizations are not going to want to be liable or want to risk injury to their rosters.

Well the rules state that you should, but in many cases they allow you to do so as long as you throw the ball back early, not after the re-start after the home run and not hit any player.

Tecnically yes you could...but its doubtful you would.

Thats a tradition and they normally overlook it. I was at Yankee game once where a fan threw the ball back into the field and hit the right field ( Paul O'neil) right in the back. I am fairly sure this person was tossed out. Just make sure to avoid the players and should not have any issues.

no its fine that you throw it back. After all you are just trying to show that in every red sox fan there is a Cubs fan dying to get out. Thats our move. Quit trying to be like us.

People to it at other games all the time (often anyway). I doubt you would be thrown out as long as you don't throw it directly at someone.

no, it happens all the time. Just don't throw it in the general direction of a player.
