The difficult part is with the players Union. This past contrat agreement was a good start and hopefully it will get better the next time. But that will probably mean the Union will want to something in return - unless they are serious about making the game better and safer for the players.

Look, no one likes the fact steroids were apparently rampant throughout baseball over the past 15 years or so. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, baseball did nothing to stop it. There were no fines, no testing, no sanctions. To go back now and punish people for suspecting they did something that wasn't even against rules when they did allegedly did it...well, that sounds a bit like Nazi Germany to me.
They test now, there's rules now. You start punishing people who get caught from this point forward. That's it.
As far as Bonds goes, that's a nice little fantasy you have, but we both know that's not going to happen. He'll hold the record until someone comes along and breaks it and that will be the end of that.

I agree that the game should be fair, but MLB has had many years to fix this... and hasn't. This sport has become more of a drama scene than WWE.
Maybe Vince McMahon will come out with an X-MLB. I think people would follow it because every player would probably be on steroids and it would at least be fair this way. This would cause competition for MLB and fans would give up MLB causing the commissioner to actually do his job and protect and correct the sport he governs.

The MLB drug testing program that was implemented in 2001 does exactly that. Through a third party subcontractor it is estimated than Bonds has been tested (50) times, including in the off season. Information as to who is tested and who is going to be tested is coordinated by the sub contractor and the names are not known by MLB or the Union ahead of the actual test. Because the information is not published, the fans have no clue as to the extent of the testing.

Great Question, they should do it multiple times, as for bonds, come on people i like him and all but how could he not take steroids, he has one 50 home run season, the one in which he had 73, take a look at him when he stepped into the bigs, and take a look at him now

It'll probably never happen because the union and players would have to agree to it...
If people would bond together and boycott baseball altogether until something was done about it, maybe the union and players would agree. But I don't see an effective boycott happening soon.
I agree about Bonds!

yeah, i think they should do that, i dont know why they havent been doing it all along, like just do random tests right?
btw i love your idea of what people should do when bonds breaks the record. haha, how great would that be if EVERYONE walked out of the stadium and no one took the ball. or maybe someone picked the ball up and threw back on the field, then everyone booed him and left. haha thatd be great!!! id love to see it!!!

It would be easy enough to do but the players union would never allow it. If the MLB tried to push the issue to hard the players would just go on strike.

The same companies that make steroids also make the tests for steroids so they constantly change the formulas so that they can constantly sell their products.
It's like radar guns for police and radar detectors. All made by the same companies. It's an endless cycle.
