Does anyone have any good reads to lift the spirits up of a good friend? Something uplifting, inspiring, moving, something hopeful to see the light? Not anything religious in particular, but just a feel-gooder, maybe humorous or comical?
I can't think of any except Tim Burton's Oyster Boy but not sure if that's really an appropriate choice for someone suffering severe depression so... much thanks for your advice!!!

I simply don't understand this passage at all.
I always thought that Jesus took everyone, whether poor, lame, crippled, etc.

This passage kind of defies everything I've ever understood.

When answering this question, ask if you've taken a good look at Islamic teachings.

As a child raised in a baptist home, we were in church each time the doors were open.
It was like our extended family. Went to some ones house for dinner on Sunday or someone was at ours.
The preachers wife stood at the rear door with the preacher as we left.
Visitors were codelled like children. Made to feel welcome by each member of the church. My husband and I have been church shopping and I have yet to find one that makes me feel the way I did then. The church we have attended for about 2 months is OK. I am disappointed in that it is the same. Only 2 ladies have gone out of their way to introduce themselves.
I chose not to participate in the ladies Christmas banquet, cause I feel so unwelcome.
I am expecting too much? Do I just accept this is the way it is and continue going? Am I being too picky?
Please Help!

I’m not trying to be funny or rude. But from what I know the definition of Christian means to be Christ-like? Am I wrong? So I was wondering, did Jesus do any "Hail Mary's"? I’m really trying to be more educated in the Catholic religion. Catholics say that their are Christians but yet the bible says that having false idols is wrong (the ten commandments). Wouldn’t that go against the word of God if your not being "Christ-like"? I’m not trying to come off as being judgmental...I just want to be more educated in the religion. I’m honestly trying to understand. It's really confusing me. I see it as a contradiction. 1 Timothy 2:5 declares, "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." So how can you be so sure of what you are doing is correct if God’s word says what it says? Also, how do you know how many prayers to do and whom you are supposed to pray or ask to? Could you show me where in the bible is states that? Again, I am not trying to be vindictive. I’m trying to understand.

Thank you in advance.

Is there something special about the rosary, that works like a Ouija board? That's against the rules, and so is conjurring spirits of the dead. Or, is it conjurring, only when Mary actually speaks back?

There is reasonable religious AND scientific evidence for some big change that is supposed to happen on 2012.
Christians have the Bible's revelations, the hindis have the end of the vedic calendar and the beginning of the satya-yuga, the mayans have the end of their calendar, Toaists speak of another great change occuring, etc. . .
Science has the theory that the sun aligns with the center of the solar system or something like that. It only happens approximately every 26,000 years, and there are supposed to be massive solar flares or something.
Science and religion have the theory that the rate of change is happening so fast and exponentially that 2012 is when it comes to a head everything is supposed to happen at once and time itself stops. Science and religion explain this theory in their respective ways.
Albert Einstein said something like "If time didn't exist everything would happen all at once".
2012? bologny or true revelation?

...you go to Hell? Automatically? That seems rather harsh and judgmental. What do you have to say?

1. I believe in God because when you think about the fact that we still follow our inate sense of morals even though we have the freedom of free will.
2.Free will its self, the ability to make choices that no other animal has been blessed or evolved to this level.
3. Science, yes I am not an uneducated boob, I really believe that the creation of such laws, an earth, such a thing that hangs in such a delicate balance leads me to believe its more than luck.
4. Evolution, omg I don't believe in creationsim am I starting to shatter your sterotypes? Yes the evidence seems to show that each evolutionary step is carefully selected by nature and once agian it leads me to believe its more than luck.
Those are a few of my reasons tell me what you want about it and present your arguments; I'd like to hear them.

I'm looking specifically for a Bible Study that will help me feel my commitment to my husband again. I would prefer if it was an actual book that I could order but I would be willing to do an online Bible study as well. Thanks

8 hours ago, I asked for a definition of "Spiritual" or "Spirituality."
I received 5 answers, and some sounded re-worded from a different source.
I would like you to tell me in your own words from your own mind, what is YOUR definition of either or both of those words.
I put this up again for (assuming) others to read and hopefully answer. Thanks.

Do you think most Christians are saved or damned?

Mt 15:8-they draw near to Me (to Jesus) with their mouth; they honor Jesus with their lips
Mt 15:9-they worship Jesus, but they are not saved
Lk 11:39-on the outside they look righteous and holy
Lk 11:42-they tithe on everything
Lk 11:43-they sit in important places; people greet them
Lk 11:44-they do not appear to be unsaved;
men are not aware that they are unsaved;
men come to them;
they appear to be something they are not
Lk 11:45-they call Jesus, "Master";
they believe they are saved
Lk 11:52-they have a form of Bible knowledge, yet are not saved
Ro 10:2-they have zeal for God
Lk 13:24-they seek to enter heaven
Lk 13:25-they knock at God’s door;
they pray and call upon the name of the Lord
Lk 18:9-they trusted in themselves that they were righteous
Lk 18:11-they pray long prayers (Lk 20:47);
they give thanks to God;
outwardly, they appear to be sinless
1 Jn 2:9-they say they are in the light, yet are not saved

wouldnt it be worth the 5 minutes and 15 bucks to become an ordained priest on the internet, so if the world ever became invaded by vampires, you could vanquish them just by peeing on them.

Hello, all:

I was told that the first Christmas after my mother died would be the hardest. I didn't realize that this meant that things would start getting really rough around the 10th of December. :-(

I'm having a very hard time with memories cropping up while I'm trying to work; I find myself crying at odd moments. Does anyone have any spiritually (or generally) uplifting thoughts and/or quotes that they'd like to share that might help me get through this rough patch? When someone close to you has died, how do you cope with sudden waves of grief?

I'm Wiccan myself, so Pagan input would be in keeping with my religion, but anyone is welcome to offer any words of comfort they think might be helpful.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to respond.
