Didn't the "Millennium" teach you anything? This is just a ploy to sell books, videos and trinkets. In 2013, they'll think of some OTHER excuse for "the end of the world (as we know it)".
The sun IS the center of the solar system. And the galactic "equator" is so hard to define that "crossing it" can't be narrowed to a decade, much less a day. Even if it were happening, it would have less gravitational effect than a major planetary alignment in the solar system (i.e. virtually none). There is nothing astronomically unusual going on in 2012!
As for calendars, the Mayan civilization rose and collapsed well within the margins of its calendar, so what does that say about their "predictions"? Every other "prediction", whether the Vedas, Nostradamus or the great, haunted "Speak-and-Spell" is hammered, twisted and tacked on simply to bolster the shabby "authority" of this fake "prophecy". And your last paragraph is sheer nonsense. You can't even spell bologna/baloney right.
You want a real crisis? Wait until they turn of the analog TV signals in 2009. Anyone without cable will be rioting in the streets. How will they get their infomercials and their fake news?

Christianity has nothing to do with that date because the date is unknown and "only the Father knows."
So many things have been said about 2012 and what's leading up to then, such as that time is speeding up, the frequency of the earth is speeding up; the poles are supposed to reverse at 2012 (which has happened before a long, long time ago though). It's all interesting, and if anything does happen then, it'd be interesting to be here to see what happens ourselves, right? I also heard predictions of discovering loopholes, time travel, redefining time, the 4D, etc.
But beyond that, I wouldn't get too obsessed with it. For all we know, it could just be another day in the neighborhood and everyone will be holding their breath only to plan another future date to get worked up about.
When something big has happened in history, think of when it's been predicted on a large scale like that. Of course after the fact, everyone likes to use 20/20 hindsight and have "ahhh" moments and twist and turn old prophecies to make them fit that particular event. If let's say nothing big happens 12-20-2012, people will figure out something to explain why the Mayans pointed to that date, or have an excuse that it was misinterpreted before.
There's also been talk about the year 2030, and possibly 2035, and later years that go beyond our lifetimes here.
I would pay more attention to the time we are in now, the present. That's the time we have and always will be. We can only plan for tomorrow, but tomorrow is never absolute.

There must be a reason that so many different religions and scientific research points to the same thing.
Granted its not the exact same but pretty close.
I think that many people have been feeling that something major is going to happen in the next few years.
No one can say for sure but it has definitely been building up to something major.
From what I hear its supposed to be a new beginning and maybe that's not so bad.
If it saves the world from those of us who have been destroying it then maybe it will be a great change.

It is the year that the truth will be established upon the earth.--Belive it or not, through several books.
The Mayans believed that their calendar would end when truth would finally come again to the earth and save them and their descendants from ignorance, wickedness, or whatever else one might call the opposite of truth. (Lucifer, Satan, of the devil would do appropriately!)
Truth is how things really are—not how things are theorized to be, or speculated upon based on observation. Science and religion are not truths. These are human cognitive abstractions that help a free-willed thinker find some balance in an existence where they are unsure (live by faith) of themselves. Well can it be said: Religion and Science are fools’ attempts to prove to everyone else that they are not foolish.
Once we are confronted by a Being we recognize as our superior, or better, one who knows a lot more than we do, there will be no more faith, and no more living with unsure feelings of why and how we exist.

The way I see it, there is no evidence whatsoever that suggests the year 2012 will be in any way special.
However, I think the theory of the Technological Singularity has a great deal of credibility. But who says that it will come about in 2012? And why should we believe in a calendar that was made thousands of years ago by the Mayans?

Every year someone comes up with a new date for the end of the world. Do not worry about it. You can not change it no matter when its comes.
Take care of your own conduct. What if the world ends in 2009, or 2012, or 12334234, and you died July 17, 2008? Maybe you died while I was typing this.
There is no guarantee, but all of us living now will probably die long before the world ends.

2012 will be between 2011 and 2013, or thereabouts.
You haven't cited any actual scientific evidence to back up your doomsday claims, however.
People got this worked up about June 6th, 2006, and January 1, 2000, as well. There were also a few nutjobs wringing their hands about 1982 and 1984 if I remember right, and they still look like idiots all this time later. Don't be one of those.

What is felt will be relevant to each being.
If electromagnetic fields, houses by the beach, your identity is your money in the bank, you react from the mind relative to your past, the ego rules your world, you live for technology, you fear easily, drama is your middle name, you need all the gadgets to be happy, your electronic car is your status symbol, you get your money from a hole in the wall, much of your life is plastic or synthetic, you have never been camping for at least 3 weeks, you do not listen to your intuition, you have made many people dependant on you, - then you will definitely feel a change in your life if - polarities change, weather patterns become more disruptive, the electromagnetic field changes, or a myriad of events which come about from reaction to the above changes happen.
If you make no other your God, listen to your intuition, and be responsible for your existence, one may not be so affected, as one would be living a more simple life through the Grace of God, (which is the universal intelligence).
All who mock what others feel, will feel really silly, I suppose.
The best insurance and assurance one can have in this world is to learn and cultivate and understand and trust and move on their intuition, which is the heart intelligence/God/love.
Blessing be.

Actually, Revelation says we don't know when the end of the world will come. That is only for God to know. Catholics believe th world still has a much longer time to exist. Many people were preparing for the world's end new year's day 2001. I think there will always be ideas of when the world will end. Personally, I don't think we should worry about it so much. We should live everyday like it's our last, right?

I just read a book called apocalypse 2012 and it has a bunch of scientific evidence that points to a huge global shift in 2012, personally I believe it.
