It's just a sprinkling

I meant the entire thing from start to finish. I'll be standing there alone

You can actually find the order of service for a baptism in the hymnal. It's relatively short, but it will seem like an eternity to you. I want to say it's less than 5 minutes.

Blessings on your baptism!!! And welcome to the family!

The actual ceremony takes about 5-10 minutes depending on the particular rite used.

Probably will not use oil, but a few Pastors do.

May God bless you with His grace, forgiveness, and the gift of His Holy Spirit.

Your friend in Christ,

Mark

p.s.: It's probably more of a pouring than a sprinkling.

Don't worry about standing there alone, the Lord, the Pastor and the whole Congregation is there with you.

I'm not familiar with the Lutheran Church, but water baptism usually takes seconds, not minutes. I didn't time mine, but I couldn't have been immersed for more than a few seconds.

I suppose the build up to the event would take a little time though.

It depends on how long winded the Pastor is.

Five to ten minutes is the typical amount of time.

However since the Greek word bapto or baptizo actually means to immerse, why not get baptized by immersion just like Jesus was?

the idea of sprinkling is a western mode of baptism
those of us in the eastern orthodox church were dunk thrice
in the name of the father the son and the holy spirit
it takes about a minute or so and done as a baby
