I agree that the fundies are way off when they say that we're supposed to be converting people by telling them how they're going to hell and how we're not because we're "saved."

I agree that God wants us to love people, and if we love people, the conversions will happen through that.

My question: What does it mean to show Christian love to others?

If I'm thinking about something in my head, but never actually do anything? For example if someone says a sacreligious joke, and I feel like laughing, but stop myself, does this count as a sin?

Being broke and poor and not having a job and all, I decided to give this prayer thing a shot. I tried to think of the simplest easy prayer for God to answer. So I said "God, when those guys rob the bank, and are trying to elude the police, please let them throw the bank bag full of money out of the car directly in front of my path as I am walking down the street looking for lost change". Now, I think that is simple enough, and easy for Him to accomplish. I know He doesn't want the bad guys to have the money, so He should let me have it. But, it's been a couple of weeks now since I prayed this, and I am tired of running down the street every time I hear a siren. So, why doesn't Jesus show me the money?

I'm attempting my first batch. After 3 weeks, and I've racked the mead. It doesn't smell or taste alcoholic at all. I wonder i I killed th yeast by not letting it cool down enough before adding it. Can I just add the same amount of yeast now and rack it again in another 3 weeks?

Matthew 7:3-5

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

if they didn't, is it possible that they didn't understand it? or maybe ignore it?

Warriors of Prayer
Written by Semper Fi Reborn - Loyal Prayer Warrior

Their purpose is of God,
To serve with no end.
To answer the calls of prayer,
And wage war against sin.

Chosen for battle,
The Word of God is their sword.
No fear, not even of death,
Living to obey the Lord.

Being saved by His Blood,
Born of Spirit and not womb.
Across the whole world,
On their knees in their rooms.

Lifting praise up to God,
Praying prayers, miracles gained.
Confessing of sins,
Forgiven in His Name.

We Bless You O' God,
You are Righteous and Fair.
We bow before you,
We are Warriors of Prayer.

The Golden Compass may seem like a fun fantasy movie cut it's not. It's an attack on Christians. I myself wanted to see the movie untill i heard what it's about. It makes demons seem like cute little creatures, which their not. Is this the impression we want kids to have of demons?

if we worship them/him/her a certain way or not.

it seems to me that if something was so powerful that it could create a universe, but it never converses with its creation, it really wouldn't care what we call it, or if we worship it.

it cant be harmed, or killed, so why should it worry about what we do??

Consider people whose line of work is to detect fake money. Do they know what is fake by handling what is fake? I believe that the best way to have the discernment to know what is fake from true is to handle the genuine article. So much so that you know it's texture taste feel look.
Should we be like this as believers. Knowing the truth in the word so much and having the inner anointing of the Holy Spirit teaching and leading and guiding us into all truth that the minute false teachings and fake things come to you RIGHT AWAY your spirit discerns and is sharp to know that something is amiss. Even if this thing ' appears " to be the real deal. Deep in your spirit you know that this is not of the Lord.
May we be so burdened about our own sensitivity as believers. How quickly is the Lord able to get through to us regarding all the things that we see here on the forum. What do you believe you need to be doing as a believer to sharpen this kind of function of your spirit?

...when a huge amount of material from that source is used in church manuals, instruction materials, books, quotes, etc.

Do you ever say, "Well, that's from the Journal of Discourses, which isn't an official church publication, so it's probably wrong," when you are reading the Priesthood and Relief Society manuals or accounts in the Ensign?

What, you get to pick and choose from the same source which are the historically correct quotes and which aren't?

I'm am truly amazed at how this works, especially since many of the "anti" quotes taken from this publication are supported by numerous other sources (pioneer diaries, letters, newspapers, magazines, etc.)

It seems that some people just want to put their fingers in their ears and chant, "I can't hear you," whenever someone brings up a point that might challenge their beliefs.
