Is God capable of making mistakes? Like does something bad ever happen, and God says to himself "Uh-oh, maybe I shouldn't have done that..." ???? You know how people say "Everybody makes mistakes," so does the same apply for God or is God just perfect in every way and has never ever made a blunder?

Isn't there even ONE bible story that you find hard to believe??? One little story that you read and think "Oh, yeah, that person was definitely on something when they wrote that". C'mon, now. Which one makes you wonder how fact based the bible really is? I'm just curious...

surely 'god' created all of these things, why not outline how they were made and what they do in your instruction manual for life, it would make doctoring a lot easier.
It should also explain why we don't need a spleen after about age 14, why we don't need an appendix, tonsils and adenoids, they are not 'essential' for the functioning of our body. Why we have tail bones. Surely it should explain all of these things....

In the old days, they put AD or BC after the year.

When Jesus was still alive, he said that he would return again in this world.

People in those old ages started to date and watch for his return and right now, it's year 2007 A.D.

Isn't this proof or evidence for the atheist even to all the religious people that Jesus exist and that he lived more than 2000 years ago? Then why do they still reject his existence even though many humans in this world use that date today in schools, work, church, etc…?

Some refer it to as the "Common Era" for BCE, many non-Christians adopted this, but which did come first? Which originated first? Which was created and dated first?

Did BCE AND CE originated from BC AND AD because there are many non-believers of Christ and that they haven't seen him?

Which was created and dated first? And is it true?

BCE AND CE (Before common ear and current era)?

OR

BC AND AD (Before Jesus Christ’s birth and After Christ's death)?

Hello, all:

I've just passed the six month anniversary of my mother's death, and I find myself thinking about it quite a bit. This lead me to some questions: What purpose do death and funeral rituals really serve? How do they help the living? And do they help the dead in any way, for example by helping the transition of their spirits (assuming that spirits exist)?

I hope to hear people's opinions and perhaps to learn something about how different religions deal with death.

As always, thanks to everyone who takes the time to answer.

Note: I did NOT ask if there was proof he was the son of god.
I simply asked if there is proof that a 33 year old man named Jesus Christ walked around on this planet 2040 years ago

Remember infinity goes in the negative direction also.

I mean no disrespect in this question. I just sincerly want to know.

What do you do when you have doubts about your faith?

If you don't ever doubt your faith, then this question probably does not apply. But I suspect that most Christians/believers our there are a little more reasonable.

I'm sure many of you see atheistic arguments or arguments about the validity of other faiths over Christianity, and have moments where you think, 'maybe I am wrong.' But then you come back to believing.

So my question is, how do you do this?

Not being allowed to turn the public schools into recruiting grounds to proselytize your faith ...

Not being allowed to use public funds or public property to promote their religion (nativity scenes, ten commandments, etc)...

Not being allowed to teach Genesis instead of science?

I'd like to know if these are the things that you're complaining about. If not, what is it?

For example, if one believes the meaning of life is love regardless of the worship of a deity isn't that a faith and therefore a religion?

So would that also mean atheism is the same as believing what one does in life is meaningless?

Yes, I know that Christians are maimed, tortured and murder in other countries, and I think that is HORRIBLE. (I think it is horrible when it happens to ANYONE for their faith)

But many (not all or most) American Christians claim that active persecution of Christians is happening in America.

But the only example I have seen of this is retailers greeting customers with "Happy Holidays". C'mon, is that really pesecution ?

Can you give me a concrete example of Modern Day persecution of Christians in the US, or at least a serious civil rights abuse.

Any Christians being jailed for reading a bible ? etc.

Thanks.

someone recently brought to my attention that israel is one of the most atheistic countries on earth.

http://www.adherents.com/largecom/com_atheist.html

does it surprise anyone else that a state which came into existence solely on the basis of a religious belief (and within living memory) is now among the world's most secular countries?

i have no antipathy toward israel, i think one could make a fair case for continued western support in the area simply on the grounds that israel is currently the nearest thing to a democracy in a region where notions of secularism and tolerance are desperately needed.

but it surprised me that the faith which built the nation was so soon dissipated once it was no longer needed.
