Yes, I know that Christians are maimed, tortured and murder in other countries, and I think that is HORRIBLE. (I think it is horrible when it happens to ANYONE for their faith)

But many (not all or most) American Christians claim that active persecution of Christians is happening in America.

But the only example I have seen of this is retailers greeting customers with "Happy Holidays". C'mon, is that really pesecution ?

Can you give me a concrete example of Modern Day persecution of Christians in the US, or at least a serious civil rights abuse.

Any Christians being jailed for reading a bible ? etc.

Thanks.

Thanks Yvonne for the links, The second one pertained to Canada tho'.

I am very sorry about the Christians who were murdered, but I really don't think ANYONE of any religion is immune from crime.

Was this murder orchestrated by the gov't ?

There is just a lot of evil people in the world who need God in their lives. All we can do is pray for them.

I've only been "persecuted" (or chastised) for my religion a few times in my life, physically.

But on here....you wouldn't believe the ignorance and hatred of others.

Here is an example of persecution. This morning a gunman came into a Christian missionary training center and shot a bunch of people....

If that's not some form of persecution, then I don't know what is.

-------

Edit: I'm not sure if your add details was to me, but I'll reply as if it was.

I sincerely pray and hope it wasn't caused, or even known about, by the government. I'm at wits end, and if the government got a tip about it and did nothing....well I would consider moving.....far, far away.

I didn't know this question was specifically about the government persecuting religion(if that's what you were asking sorry for the misunderstanding.).I do not think we are persecuted, sure we can't do a lot of things we would like, but that's with ALL religions in America, not just Christianity. So I don't consider that persecution what so ever.

And quite frankly, I am glad we have the 1st amendment. My church is seen as un-Christian, and ignorance driven people would even call it a cult, without even knowing that it means. I have friends of many different faiths, and quite frankly....that's why I didn't go to a religious backed college, because I want to get/have a diversity in all things....

They're obviously not being persecuted, but they are slowly being lowered from de facto state religion to the status of every other religion. As they lose the advantages they never had a right to in the first place, some of them are going to complain that they're being discriminated against. Presumably equality seems like a pretty bad deal compared with what they're used to.

A lot goes on that the news dose not report.
A woman from India legally escaped from India and to the same roof I was under. She wanted to get here and become a Christian. She wanted to be here because in India daughters are sold to men in India and she did not want to be sold to a man. She wanted to find her own husband with love.
But it did not work. Male cousins of hers found her and sold her to a man in N.J. and she was forced into this marriage. I have written to her for many years; but no responses ever came. Was she even aloud to read the letters?
I guess the First Amendment is stronger for men than it is woman.
I even wrote 60 Min.s on it and they did a report on how it was being done in distant counties; not just across the river from New York City.
Slavery is going on in the United States. And a lot more too.

Hmmm, I think you may need a dictionary to check up the definition of Persecution.

1-Persecution is the systematic mistreatment of an individual/group by another group.

2- a program or campaign to exterminate, drive away, or subjugate a people because of their religion, race, or beliefs:

3- oppression for the holding of a belief or opinion.

4- Punishment or harassment, , usually of a severe nature on the basis of race, religion, or political opinion in one's country of origin

Just read some of the answers on this site.. They are rude insulting and harassing. They are degrading, abusive and downright ugly..

Peace & God bless from Texas <><

We aren't.

The truth is, society is changing. It is becoming more accepting of people who choose to follow paths besides that of the majority, or "outside the norm". Since it was determined, several decades ago, that equal rights for everyone was a good thing, our country is moving from being a society full of Christian themes and ideas to one that makes room for the ideas of everyone.

Some people mistake this change of dynamic as "persecution" or "discrimination". I think its wonderful. I am a Christian, and my dad is a Pagan, and my mom is kind of new-agey .... and I think its great that we live in a country where we are all able to practice our beliefs openly, and EQUALLY.

Christians in America are not persecuted by the legal system or the government. Thank heaven for that. They are, however, frequently harassed and belittled for their beliefs. That is the wide-scale extent of it here in the US of A.

i think of that united statesa. could be a God fearing united states of america. I even nevertheless, do no longer think of that it could bring about federal jurisdiction. i've got faith the tenants that Benjamin Franklin set as sound faith - i haven't got here upon the source yet so i won't be able to proportion the place - could be a guiding ingredient in colleges and government. of direction, i've got faith massive brother could study his shape and then get his nostril out of welfare, and preparation between different issues. he's in basic terms to massive to make certain the little people who he attempting to help and usually finally ends up stepping on them. Now, your remark of Mormons. in case you fairly knew the tenants of Mormonism you will tension all applicants to be energetic Mormons, with the aid of fact they suspect extra in this united states of america and the form and the liberty of ALL adult males than the different Christian faith. they do no longer seek for for potential or glory like all different politician accessible - as a regular, faith-based rule. There are continually undesirable eggs. Oh, by ways would every physique provide up misinterpreting Separation of Church and State. it is not interior the form, it is not interior the regulation, it is not interior the statement of independence. It became a fact by Jefferson that happened after all of it, on a similar time as he became governor of Virginia or whereever he referred to as domicile. definite, there is meant to be a separation of Church - no church is meant to be an valid area of the federal government, and State, purely which potential the federal government no longer states themselves. It took numerous extra years after that fact for the valid State religions to finally disappear - and then that they had the liberty to make that decision.

They think that stopping shoving this religion down people's throats is just as bad as persecution.

they aren't. some people think they are being persecuted when state courts are required to take the 10 commandments down. i know that's not persecution, they don't.

edit- evonne's links are not evidence of persecution. because a crazy guy with a gun killed people doesn't make it persecution. i'm sorry for their deaths, but those people were not jailed and executed because of their beliefs as persecution implies.
