And don't tell me that God would never command that, he did it multiple times in the bible.

No, I'd go and get myself commited to a mental institute if I thought I was hearing the voice of god. The second I start having delusions of faith the rational part of me will know that I am becoming a danger to society.

I hate these types of questions because if I say, yes, if God told me to murder a baby I would just because He said so, then I would of course be labled a murdering baby killer. Unthinkable in any civilized society. BUT understand one thing...the references in the bible where God commands His people to kill the men, women and children of heathen, pagen nations was for a specific purpose...so that the nation of Israel would not become "infected" by the false gods, false doctrine and false beliefs of these other people. In every case it was a strategic tactic to preserve the line of the Jewish nation. God was quite serious about this.
Since the birth, death and resurrection of Christ, the Jewish nation has never been the same. They still have a role to play on the world-stage, but their essential purpose has been fulfilled, to be the nation through which the Savior would be born.
We have a different covenant now and God would not command us to murder a baby so the question is irrelevant. Try reading the New Testament.

I fail to see how this is any more absurd than
a president claiming a god told him to invade Iraq.

No more absurd than televangelists claiming the same.
Yet people line up to hand over large sums of cash
and surrender all rational thought.

It would be hard, but it depended on the situation. Most of the time in the Bible when God commanded that, he always made a way so that it didn't actually happen. I would have to 100% sure that is was God, many ppl say God is talking to them, but if you listen it's all about them and what they want and not really God. I would really have to pray and fast and be really honestly sure. God help me if he ever asks me to do that! Merry Christmas

Shouldn't you be asking this question of liberals, who don't need a command from God to murder babies and demonize anyone who tries to stop them?

Of course, I'm talking about abortion, the act of murdering a living human being without a trial or reason beyond the mother's comfort or convenience.

Don't tell me they're not human, because women have never given birth to any other species.

And don't tell me they're not alive. If they weren't, you could just yank them out and throw them up on the counter like a piece of gauze without performing any other "procedure".

A few times, yes, but is that any different than other cultures committing human sacrifices? Pagens did a few times, but that dosen't stop me from believing in certain aspects of those beliefs.
As for your question though, I would tell him,"Hell, no!," and than continue on with a long chourus of what he could go do with himself.
I believe 'my' God would hold more respect for me sticking with my beliefs in this situation.

Multiple times you say... name them as I'm to dumb to remember multiple times and how many were followed through before God stopped it?

With all the thumbs down, I must be right... there is not multiple times that God told anyone to murder a baby. I don't know the bible as well as I should, but this shows I know a lot more that the ones who gave me thumbs down.

I'm in a state of deep shock after reading some of these responses.

I swear, these are the times when I want to cry out to God (even though I know there isn't one) and beg him to stop these lunatics.
