Note: I did NOT ask if there was proof he was the son of god.
I simply asked if there is proof that a 33 year old man named Jesus Christ walked around on this planet 2040 years ago

The ancient historical record provides examples of writers, philosophers and historians who lived during or not long after the time Jesus is believed to have lived and who testify to the fact that he was a real person. Among them Tacitus, Pliny the Younger, Babylonian Talmud, Lucian of Samosata, the 4 Gospels among others.

Actually, there is proof that Jesus existed. Let's just act on the premise that he was a hoax. All the writers of the New Testament came at a later time and made it all up. If they were basing it all on a hoax and really just wanted to mess with someone's mind, then they would have admitted it at some point. Many lost their lives. They had nothing to lost by admitting that it was a hoax to save their lives. They never did. They went to the grave declaring the life of Christ. Next, the books of Corinthians were written around 25 years after the death of Christ. In the letter, there is a detailed description of the life and death of Christ. Some people that were there to witness it firsthand were STILL alive and around that city. As the letter circulated, it landed in the hands of many that were witnesses of Christ. If there was something wrong with the account or if he never was there to begin with, then someone along the line would have spoken up. No one did. Next, the Jewish Talmud is another source. The Jewish Talmud is a book that was written over many years by many different authors. It is a valid book. Mainly the people contributing to it were the Jewish leaders. It was the Jewish leaders that hated Christ and wanted him killed. In the Talmud, there are accounts of the life AND death of Christ. The enemies of Jesus attested to his existence. If anyone had a reason to blot him out of history, it was the authors of the Talmud, yet they didn't deny his existence either. Lastly, there are historians that really have no reason to admit that Jesus existed that have written about him. Flavius Josephus was one of those that did write about him. He gave detailed accounts of his life in his books that have been accepted as valid for many years.

Interestingly, you can find non-Christian experts that say yes he did exist, and even point to things like that tomb of Christ, earlier this year. On the other hand you find still other "experts" who say he did not exist at all. Guess it depends on which expert you want to believe in.

Even if they said he did exist, then Christ becomes Thor, Zeus, Mithra, Buddha, Horus, Julius Caesar, Krishna, and whoever else you can find a way to throw in.

They believe that Jesus can be anyone, except who he said he was....the Son of God.

Outside of the Bible, there are historians that mention Jesus, but none that were alive during Jesus' time (or if they were alive they weren't old enough to remember).

It would seem weird though if 2.1 billion people followed a man that never existed though. I do believe there was a man we now know as Jesus, but no Son of God.

Absolutely.
See "Evidence That Demands a Verdict" by Joshua McDowell....or "Case For Christ" by Lee Strobel.

There is only historical proof....but then again, there is only historical proof that your great-great-great-great-great-grandmother ever existed.

And to be quite frank and honest, there is more proof that Jesus of Nazareth lived then there is that your great-great-great-great-great-grandmother ever existed.

That is, you can't prove that she existed...it would nearly be impossible. That's because she wasn't famous or well-known.

But Jesus was VERY well known...there are non-Christian writings about Him...dating all the way back to the time He lived (which is quite phenomenal, if you you really think about it...they didn't have a printing press, computer, or much of anything beyond little pieces of papyri to write on with ink).

Denying that Jesus was the Son of God may be eternally foolish...
But denying that Jesus of Nazareth even lived is not only eternally foolish...it is just simple ignorance of the facts.

Actually historical documents have been found supporting the evidence of the existance of Jesus Christ, particulary in the roman empire, persia, and china. If it were not for the existance of these documents, I will confess, I would have suspicions, alright-I wouldn't believe he had ever existed at all. Its only because there is evidence elsewhere that I do believe.

Is there proof that he didn't exist? Here's an even more important question; when you die, will there be proof that you existed? Proof concrete enough that it's undeniable? Most probably no.

A Jewish man, who's job was to keep records in Israel at the time of Jesus, mentions Jesus and his followers.
The man was not a Christian and his name was Josephus. ( I may have spelled his name slightly wrong??)

I think I heard there was record of someone with that name. But only the Bible says he was more than just a guy claiming to be more than just a guy. So my understanding is there was a guy with that name. But unless you you are religious, he was just a guy with that name.

No there's no proof, but I've no particular reason nor inclination to doubt it.

I do have particular reasons and inclinations to doubt that there was somebody who was the son of God and supposedly performed all the miracles that the Bible attributes to a man named Jesus Christ a few thousand years ago.
