Isn't there even ONE bible story that you find hard to believe??? One little story that you read and think "Oh, yeah, that person was definitely on something when they wrote that". C'mon, now. Which one makes you wonder how fact based the bible really is? I'm just curious...

More than cold enough for me:) What's funny is that you sound just like a Canadian when you say that!!!!!! It's like the official Canadian greeting in the winter, haha. Replaces "How's it going?" So, I make it rain, why can't you work a little of your magic here in Ontario, instead of allowing it to continue to snow?

They don't get the point of this question, do they?

According to the bible, Noah grew to be 900 years old. They take that as plausible (???). People are eaten by whales, women are produced from men's ribs, a woman gives birth without ever having had sex.

If you'd meet an old man on the street today, and he would tell you he's 900 years old (well, he might be Dr Who...), even those who believe in the bible would say "right, and which institution did you escape from today?". I, personally, would simply ask him how he would come to the conclusion that he is 900 years old, but that's a different matter ^_^. If women give birth without having had sex in their life, no one - including those who believe in the bible - would believe that woman. And so on.

So as long as it's in the bible, it's true for them. But take it out of context where they don't recognise it anymore and the s|-|ite hits the fan... really hard.

Just because the bible is not chronologicaly correct or has text left out by whoever decides this, doesn't mean that what is given to us to read is all false, or even far fetched, of course it is, but it is true...

No signs will be given again, but there was a time where singns were given to those who already believed all the time, and great things were done so the people would know there was a God a good God who called himself "I am who I am", people call Him other names, but the following through history is unmistakable and cannot be explained no other books have survived the length of man's creation, contrary to many beliefs there was intelligence and learning and reading and writing of their languages, it is written in the passages the ones that were inspired for the writer speaks of it, Daniel for example speaks of being inspired and transported and the things he saw he did not understand but he wrote to the best of his comprehension and sometimes did not understand even what he wrote because he told us so in his writings...Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Just a thought.

Yeah, there are many stories in the Bible that is meant to be metaphorical and allegorical, and not to be taken literally. Meaning they're symoblic for something.

Sup Restless Angel, Cold enough for ya out there?

lol, I sound canadian eh? cool
yeah, to "make it rain" is slang meaning you drop tons of money on clothes, jewlery, cars, and women.. just slang.

Here's a nice little test. Go seek up "Exodus 30:23".
and notice all the "differences" from all the "interpretations" and translations. and all the jokes, that Moses was a pot head, etc. When you are done with this test, ask yourself this one question:
"would I base my faith, in a book that was translated so many times, by so many different people with so many different agendas?”, and could I believe all the stories in the book to be so literal?
God spoke to man, and man translated, changed, adjusted the true mean, to fit his “needs”. Sorry, I have no faith in “man”, I only have faith in myself, my God. I look within for my faith, for my truth, not without.

No. Not a single one.

I've researched most of them pretty intensively, and I've found objective evidence for believing them as written.

I'd be happy to explain more specifically if you have one particular story in mind. (I know, everyone goes straight for the flood, which seems to be the Christian whipping post. This is actually the easiest story to explain and prove with physical sciences, the problem is that almost everyone sensationalizes the story and CAN'T be convinced because they believe their fiction too strongly.)

Well...when you say, "the Bible to be the literal truth"...you gotta understand...
Parts of the Bible are written allegorically, symbolically, or abstractly. They aren't meant to be understood "literally". A literal interpretation of something written abstractly is just silly...
As if Jesus were literally a rock.

No...but Jesus is a rock...a firm foundation on which I stand. That is, in Him, I shall not fall...that is, in Him, Heaven is my lot...not hell.
=

But if you are referring to things like Noah's Ark, and what-not...then....YES....it is hard to believe. But then again, there are MANY things that are true that are hard to believe. It doesn't make them any less true.

Besides...most of the "quibble" you speak of does not apply to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Why not try reading these for yourself?

Did Jesus literally turn water into wine? Yes.
Did Jesus literally walk on water? Yes.
Did Jesus literally give sight to the blind? Yes.
Did Jesus literally bring Lazarus back from the dead? Yes.

Did Jesus literally die on the cross? Yes.
Did Jesus literally come back from the dead? Yes.
Did Jesus literally ascend up into heaven? Yes.

Will Jesus literally come back to judge the living and the dead? Yes.

Will non-Christians literally be punished for their sin in hell for all eternity? Yes.
Will Christians - saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ - literally go to heaven for all eternity? Yes.

Is this literally a FREE gift? Yes.

Can ANYONE accept this free gift? Yes.

The biggest question: Why would you reject so great a gift from God...and instead willingly chose to die in your sins and go to hell for all eternity?

Instead, repent and believe...and be saved!

Those who claim that the Bible is the literal truth tend not to believe in transubstantiation. They think that Genesis is literal and can't be metaphorical -- but think that Jesus was just speaking metaphorically when he said "This is my body" and "This is my blood."

How can they have it both ways?
