I don't think any god is coming. God is just an old superstition.

The 2012 date is from the Mayan calender.
It is not necessarily the "ending" ....It is the "New beginning". Like our own calendar concidering, from January to December. The Mayan "Calendar" is on a Universal Time clock rather than an "Earthly" one...
The Mayans were "astrologers" with very GREAT accuracy! The stars move about the Heavens much like a "time-piece". A person can calculate their exact position on Earth by them, as well as they (the star positions) can also be calcuated where they will be positioned in the sky at certain times.
A small view of this (rather than a "Universal" look) would be As the planets that circle the Sun in our Solar system, we on Earth can show where each of the planets can be seen at which time of year etc...the planets make one complete revolution around the Sun, and then start again, on that revolution pattern.
The whole Universe is doing that same thing & has been since man first began "calculating" star patterns (which was what the "Wise men or Magi" did in Christ's time, as well as the Mayans also did in "their time" )
Many believe the "Stars" to be "predicters" of the future events on Earth.
(Which is what Astrology is all about)
The Bible itself says that the Heavens were created to show "signs & wonders"! Much like the "Star" that was "brighest" when Christ was born.
Da 6:27 - He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth.
Ac 2:19 - I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
Lu 21:25 - "There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.
Ps 19:1 - The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.
Isa 66:22 - "For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me," says the Lord, "So shall your descendants and your name remain.
The Mayan calendar ends in 2012, but that is NOT the End, it just means that all things in the Universe are "back to the starting point".
According to the theory...we will be able to see "amazing aspects" of the Universe when this year (2012) comes!
I DO find it interesting that God Himself holds a great deal of value in the numerical aspects of the # 12.
The "Ending/New beginning" date is actually 12/21/2012.
I also find it "interesting" that so much of the ideology of the Mayans "calendar" has similar "charateristics" of the Biblical analgies of the Christ.
You can see for yourself, if you know the Bible & read the information from the following web-site!

Funny that humans of a sort have been here for a couple of million years so it would be a HUGE COINCIDENCE for God or Jesus to show up during ones own short life span on earth.
That said i think i will draw out my £45.78 savings from the post office in 2011 just in case the economy goes into turmoil if the guy do show up

I agree, God will come when hes good and ready, The heavens will open up and the trumpets will sound, as God brings all his believers to live in heaven with him while the rest of the earth and non believers live in Hell. Nobody can "predict" the coming of Christ.

Noone knows.
God works in spiritual seasons, which have no earthly time.
Just like noone knows beforehand exactly the date and time when crops can be harvested (neither the farmer knows that) so in the same way noone knows when God will return.
The bible just says to look arround you and see the signs of the times.
The sun and moon will be red as blood (and that most probably has to do with increased pollution).
1/3th of the earths water won't be drinkable... etc...
Just look arround you, and know it's going to be soon (though maybe or maybe not in your lifetime).
matt 24:3-35 says:
3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
15"So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,'[b] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. 18Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak. 19How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. 22If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. 24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. 25See, I have told you ahead of time.
26"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.
29"Immediately after the distress of those days
" 'the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'[c]
30"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
32"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[d]is near, right at the door. 34I tell you the truth, this generation[e] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
About the guy posting previously about the earth's end coming in 4000 something, the bible speaks very clear about mockers and false prophets.
I do not consider you a false prophet, but I do see a lot of mocking from guys not knowing what they are talking about.
I personally would be cautious to mock. It may be fun for you, and just be a joke, yet the bible is serious about certain topics!

There are no prophesies whatsoever in the Old Testament about any 2nd coming! Jesus was telling some of the Jews that he was coming back in their own lifetime (white lie?), but they all died and he NEVER came back.
Mat 16:28 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
But to some other Jews he told them that nobody, but nobody including himself knows when God will send him back to be their King! Caesar God was a God King. God the Son Jesus Christ was the alleged God, too King of the Jews. The day of the 2nd coming to be their King will come as a total surprise even to Jesus!
Mark 13:32 (Jesus said) No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
The Eastern soothsayers came to visit the "Newborn King of the Jews"… The last question that the Jews asked Jesus was about his promised kingdom (Acts 1:6-7). Jesus told them to never mind!
The Jews were never delivered from the Romans, but they were almost exterminated. The Jews wised up and dropped Jesus very quickly. For Christians it may take a little longer. Each people have its own degree of gullibility.
No fault of the Jews. They really wanted to make Jesus their king by force, but Jesus chickened out! Very few Christians want the world to know this fact!
John 6:15 (NIV) Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.
The last time that he came to Jerusalem he made all the Jews to believe that he was going to become their King, but he was teasing them!
John 12:13They* (*big crowds of Jews) took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the King of Israel!"
But Jesus had no intension to become anybody’s king! He also told Pontius Pilate that his kingdom was not of this world! So much for the "Newborn King of the Jews!" Pilate had to put a sign on top of the cross to remind everybody about the recanted "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews".
Christians ALWAYS accuse the Jews for rejecting Jesus! Hardly any preacher ever mentions the fact that the Jews really wanted to make Jesus king by force. Throughout history a lot of Jews lost their life because of this accusation!
