If Christianity is for peace, how come its followers discriminate and persecute others? --Which causes war and upheaval---

Isn't it in their religion to be kind to all? So when a christian slanders a atheist then they are commiting a sin.

Also why do most christians only want to be friends with other christians yet athiests will be friends with anyone regardless of religion?

The first incident was when I was about 7 and I heard an audible voice. (It was the only time I heard a voice) Before you think I'm crazy, most of the women in my family have had these experiences and we're highly educated, successful people who are not given over to hysteria. I'm not afraid, but I know that when I have unresolved anger, I have a higher incidence of things that happen, like alarms going off on their own, my car radio changing the channels, etc. Anyway, I also know in my heart that I am not to curse anything because my words have life. Crazy? The last spirit I saw, I was asleep in my bed and I felt someone touch my leg. I woke up thinking it was my grown daughter, but it wasn't. It did look like a woman, but when I closed my eyes and opened them again, she was gone. And before you say it was a dream, I and my family have seen things when we are completely awake. So, What do you think?

.."god" would call him home? ........wait a minute, I can't type when I am laughing this hard............ok....Anyway, Oral said that "god" was 500 feet tall. Did anyone happen to get any photos of the 500-foot tall "god?" I mean, certainly a financial discussion of this gravity would have taken a few minutes. Has anyone heard of any photos taken during this conversation??? Fundies, please weigh in (that means answer) on this too.

Is He really asking them to kill by stones - apart from being extremely painful it is utterly horrific - Why then when He came to earth as Christ does He changes His mind and tells us to love one another and hurt no one

What are some ideas on how to develop a mutually beneficial relationship with the spirits of the deceased - those that may still have the potential for presence in our life?

Is it because you studied really hard? Is it because you inherited high intelligence from your parents? What is it, that millions of Yahoo! answerers lack the depth and rational responses that you do?

You always give me the best answer for my questions. I need a friend like you in real life where I can just talk about life every night at the dinner table. If I were rich enough, I would sponsor you in writing a book about philosophy and have it publish. Although, I am a believer of God, I respect your rational thinking.

It will be an honor for me to keep in touch with you easier if I can get a hold of your personal email.

Thank you for taking your time to answer so many people's question and my questions as well. You are the best of the best like how they say your are.

A Remake of a Question I post a while back.

I finished a Science fiction story a while back, and It posed an interesting question for the protagonist, and I wondered what you R&Sers would do... So without further adeiu.

Okay let us assume that there IS a "god" of sorts, with Omni-escent knowledge and all, and say you were given a choice:

A) Merge with God Themself, thereby solving all conflict regarding indiviuality, and have infinate knowledge, or

B) Reject, stay on earth and become your own person.

I'm curious, what would you do?

Are viruses actually alive?

Are prions actually living?
(Prions are the mutant proteins that cause Mad Cow Disease)

Where exactly is that border between living or dead stuff?

The truth to which I refer is of course that their religion, their doctrine, their whole freaking system, is a sham. I’m convinced that the best way we, the human race, can counter the difficulties that we will soon face such as climate change, energy shortages etc, is to become united. We will never become united or even be willing to work together with all the opposing primitive ideologies that exist in today’s world. Our only hope is for a truly secular global society.

So should we (don’t ask me who ‘we’ is, just take my word for it, we are) forget about the older Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Mormons etc, because they are too far within the delusion of their beliefs and concentrate on the younger ones?

1. Criminal Joe - a child molester and mass killer of 18 - who spent 22 years on death row and while awaiting execution found Jesus and honestly, and wholeheartedly accepted him as his personal savior - and asked forgiveness for his sins before dying.

2. Citizen Joe - some poor shmuck who, while doing his taxes, blasphemed the Holy Spirit.

Eventually (in the far distant future), humanity may collectively leave behind the practices and beliefs of religion, theism, spirituality and absolutism. Nihilism may even take the place of most, maybe even all, skepticism.

Just as we may have evolved from cognitively simple, instinctual primates into beings capable of abstract, philosophical thought, can we also eventually evolve to cope with the idea that existence is ultimately meaningless and thus avoid degeneration into a self-destructive chaos?

I don't really expect any good answers in this section, but who knows? Maybe someone will surprise me. :P

If not, I'll just try again in the Philosophy section. ;) But this IS relevant to the R&S section, so I thought I'd try here first to see what happens.
