I believe in God wholeheartedly, but I also believe in the occult such as ghosts, spirits, spells, meditation, ritual, and a touch of Buddhism.
I have dived into wicca and paganism and I like it very much, but I do believe in a "Goddess" type figure much like the Native American's in the view of Mother Nature.
So, can I be both? Can I just be a spiritualist? What are your views!!!

I know many people did not like him because they felt that he had the Czar wrapped around his finger and he was unofficially ruling the government, but did Rasputin do anything that was bad? What did he do exactly?

Holy books are open to interpretation and are frequently contradictory. Sometimes they're just damn confusing; possibly on purpose. The point is that there is no concrete idea of what god/God is. The idea of God/god is completely open to interpretation and is generally what people "need" god/God to be: either an explantion, cosmic force of nature, nature itself, a kind caregiver or even a supervisor. Albert Einstein used the word god instead of cosmological constant, basically a theoretical formula that combined every force in the universe/multiverse. So, with all the various types of god/God and the slight differences that seperate even the most similar, could monotheistic religions actually be regarded as monotheistic.

Why did John the deciple of Jesus adress himself as the "The diciple whom Jesus loved."

I'am a learner and teacher of the bible. A friend of mine who is in a bible school asked me this question.

The basic answers are
Jesus told John to look after his mother.
John was leaning on jesus breast at the last supper.

Please can you give me answers with bible reference or answers which can be explained by logic.

PLEASE no stupid answers.

do you just kinda freeze, or do you trace your steps backwards, or do you really rack your brains and try to think for your self once in a while?
or are you one of those crazy guys who thinks the bible has all the answers?

i am saying this because last night i saw someone on tv (some crappy documentery on some random channel that iv never even watched before) who says he strictly sticks to what the bible says no matter what.

I'm not religious but i do accept that jesus lived and may have said somethings that could help guide people to a better way of life.
But as far as we know he didn't write anything down. Everything about him was written at a later date by other people. And these writtings were edited by men in powerful positions. And even today we know these politicion / government types have there own agenda's and can't be trusted. So no one can really say they know anything about jesus.
So would it not be better to put the bibles down and find out what he really believed before basing a religion on him?
The vatican could start by opening it's library and funding archeological digs all over the holy land.

Do you give them candy or explain why you're not? Not answer the door? Turn off all the lights and put the car in the garage?

Based on this article from todays news, I'd be tempted to tell them to go home and put on some clothes. But this is an easy one for me. Where I live, there are no trick or treaters.

I want my kids to learn about life from an agnostic point of view - the topic of death for example: I don't want their heads being filled with nonsense of an afterlife (ie. heaven, angels, nirvana...).

Any suggestions of childrens stories that tell about the natural cycles of life and death?

thanks

I John 1:5: "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all . . . If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another."
But:
Then spake Solomon, the Lord said that he would dwell in the thick darkness." (I Kings 8:12. Repeated in II Chronicles 6:1) "And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies." (II Samuel 22:12) "He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies." (Psalm 18:11) "The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice . . . clouds and darkness are round about him." (Psalm 97:1-2)
So is he god of light or what? And if he is but he lives in the dark, surely he illuminates only himself.

In Scripture, a person's name sometimes included his occupation. For instance "Simon the tanner". So with that rule in mind, let's have a little fun.
What would your name be?

Mine would be, "Primo the accounts payable dude"
