The following is an answer from a believer to my last question. I am not going to put their name. I really think this is a great perspective and I am happy to hear it coming out of the mouth of a Christian. Do any of you agree or find it interesting?

"The one thing that would make me stop worshiping God is if i learned that there was another way to get to heaven than the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I could not worship the Father who let His Son die IF it was meaningless. If you could earn passage into heaven by a matter of doing good deeds, then I would be appalled."

Surely, a just God would not kill this poor guy just because he spilled some seeds on the ground?

"And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him. And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also." (Genesis 38:7-10)

I believe that God does not create things without a purpose. Even the smallest insect does a special job. So I believe it is possible that There might be life on different planets. Not hostile like in the movies but maybe copies of us. In a sense we were created for our in enviroment or we have "Adapted" ex.If our noses were upwards, we would drowned if it rained. So maybe there are aliens that look different simply because they have been created or adapted to their enviroment. But do you think the other planets were created because we were supposed to live forever and after the earth was populated we`d have to find new places to live?

How did it make you feel?

Today makes 1 for me:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20071030071803AAvmiec

I was judged by someone who said that I present no evidence that I am a follower of Christ.

This is the same guy that posted this:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvIq.G.1kbEUetjtRT9aFkDty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071023171219AAiVU7b&show=7#profile-info-fe95a8230778bec6d2b8cb73b71aa77daa

Now, who buy God is qualified to judge? Have I acted (besides a few coarse jokes... heh) in a way contrary to the nature of Christ?

Does questioning my faith or doctrines mean I'm not a christian?

If I am not one then what am I? Should I just convert to a pagan path and be done with it since I am not a Christian?

... then again I guess you have to consider the source sometimes.

Is "fundie" okay in your book or not? Some people use it as a derogatory slur, others just like to shorten words.

In the 10th century Khazaria (located near present day Russia) adopted Judaism as their religion and followed the rabbinical faith.

Khazaria was later destroyed by the Christians which led the Khazar Jews to be dispersed throughout Europe.

Why are so many Jews afraid of accepting the history of these Jewish converts ?

Is it threatening to them to admit that a huge number of European Jews are more closely related to Atila the Hun than to Abraham and Isaac ?

Not trying to be offensive. Just curious what the appeal would be.

Is there anything God could do or not do that would make you stop worshipping him?

Religions are generally consequence-based (especially Christianity) with the biggest consequence being "live this kind of life, or spend eternity in HELL!!!!"

For this reason, I see religion as only being a necessity for those who are afraid to die.

Your thoughts?

I'm curious, does general fiction fall into the realm of lies in the strict fundimental Christian world?

On the technicality that lies are the work of Satan, would that therefore class fiction as Satanic?

In Zen there is a koan (a conversation between Zen masters or a Zen master and his/her student) that asks "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" (The actual translation comes to "You can hear the sound of two hands clapping, but what is the sound of one?" but it's close enough, and you get the point.) This often comes up in Wester Civilization, as the archetypal crazy Eastern Philsosphy mind-eff.

I have long fingers, a wide palm and a deep "cup" in my palm. I can bend my fingers (rapidly) in such a way that it makes a clapping sound. I CAN clap with one hand. Hell, I can have a round of applause by myself (using both hands independently) There HAS to be other people out there who are confused as to why this is such a "mind-blowing" question. Anyone else?

To make this topical...If a tree falls in the forest, and it hits an angel, does satan giggle?

A few days ago, I was in a very serious car crash, basically my car slid under a semi truck. No one was injured at all. I just walked out of my car. Everyone, the police, ambulance, everyone is dumbfounded as to how I just opened my car door and walked away.

I didn't even realize how bad it was until I stepped out of the car. I don't know how I survived.

I am not a deeply religious person, but something like this you know...it changes you. I had a cross and something of the Virgin Mary on my rearview mirror, and everything to the right of the chain was destroyed. Anyone sitting there would've been decapitated. Yet, everything on the left (myself included was okay) I also sprinkled holy water when I first bought the car.

Also my mom is convinced it's because God has bigger plans for me. I am a good guy, I sponsor a child, donate thousands each year, I secretly drop presents at womens shelters on Christmas, etc. My mom says it's because of acts like this that I am alive

I can't undertand what they think people who believe in these ideas are religions? I just heard some loudmouthed senator from Oklahoma call it the "Religion of Global Warming". What deity or deities to people think people who believe in evolution and global warming worship? Are they aware that for them to be religions they have to have a deity? Or is all of it a political move in order to somehow get them thrown out of schools, etc. on the grounds they are "religions".

If they are religions, does that mean my supervisor would have to give me Charles Darwin's Birthday off as a religious holiday?

the bible teaches of hell but not as a daming solution to man's wickedness. the theory of hell originated with the teachings of the Greeks at the time when philosophy was in its infant stages. so how did this un-Godly concept found its way into christianity.

I LOVE life. I love this planet. I love people (mostly). I love the beauty in nature. I feel incredibly glad that I've been alive for 25 years. I love sunsets and campfires and big pine trees and the ocean. Why would anyone not be happy with what we already see, without having to create or seek something else to look believe in/look forward to?
