I believe that God does not create things without a purpose. Even the smallest insect does a special job. So I believe it is possible that There might be life on different planets. Not hostile like in the movies but maybe copies of us. In a sense we were created for our in enviroment or we have "Adapted" ex.If our noses were upwards, we would drowned if it rained. So maybe there are aliens that look different simply because they have been created or adapted to their enviroment. But do you think the other planets were created because we were supposed to live forever and after the earth was populated we`d have to find new places to live?

even if you are Atheist, you have to believe in something. Like maybe evolution or science..so again this applies to you.>What do you think, of all people you are the most "logicistic", so you probably believe in adaptation..
How about the fact that there is life on Mars in a sense and that there is a very possible chance there was once water there. or maybe one day will be? How do you explain our planet being perfect?

Actually Arie,I believe that when God creates He does so with a generous spirit, almost as if He is over generous.Of course He creates things to have a definite purpose and the universe seems to be in perfect co-ordination as He planned.
Take the miracles of Jesus for example,at the wedding feast of Cana He was showing this generosity of God by an over abundance of wine, the same thing occurred at the feeding of the 5,000 when 12 baskets were left over of the remains.
I do not think God created the planets for us but only the Earth,so they have to be part of the glory of creation and by their setting in the universe they are part of the natural balance that God intended.

like Venus, being full of poison and acidic gasses? with surface temperatures in the 1000s degrees fahrenheit?
be my guest.
other planets have no solid surface, or are so huge you or I would be literally pinned to the ground unable to move.
the known universe is not Star Trek; it's not full of planets with the same breathable atmosphere, drinkable water, temperate climate or edible plantlife.
ADDED: there is life on Mars? That's a new one as far as I know. Yes, Mars would be easier to inhabit than mosst other worlds, but there would still be many details to sort out to make colonies there viable and sustainable (not all can be. atmosphere, food supplies, sunlight and other resources are not likely plentiful out there, nor are all wolrds as shielded from space radiation as we are). My point was that most planets will in all probability never be inhabitable. We evolved on earth because conditions were right (whether or not one believes an external being is responsible or not). A humanocentric or Terracentric perspective may assume that our since our world is as complex as it is that this somehow 'proves' creation of some sort; but by that logic the vast majority of worlds unsuitable for any life (let alone life with our needs) demonstrates that the odds were against life and we were the one in a trillion (or whatever proportion) that won the lottery. Do you believe that one or more gods runs the lottery? If so, then why do so many Christians or deserving people never win? Same thing, in a way.

WelI I believe God created other planet just to support our own planet (the EARTH) It is a well known fact that, every thing He did was for good and He had purpose of creating them. But it was not for us because some of these planet there's no life in them and it will be imposible for us to live in there.
Issues like this give an evidence of God's supremacy.

it took 6 days to create the earth, therefore one could reasonably assume it took 48 days to create the other planets & over 200 days for the moons & at least 20 days to create the sun ( its big! ). When you apply these #'s to the rest of 400 billion stars in our galaxy, not to mention the millions of other galaxies it would have taken god more days than the sum all of the 900 year old people mentioned in genisis to build all the celestial objects. The answer is no the other planets in our solar system are uninhabitable, that is why we evolved on this one.

When I was a child some one told me that god left his first attempts to make the earth, so that we would not give up trying to do what we are driven to . Another time I was told that he knew that we are afraid of the dark.

If they were created for us to live on they would be habitable.
Maybe we already lived on them and caused them to be the way they are.
