the bible teaches of hell but not as a daming solution to man's wickedness. the theory of hell originated with the teachings of the Greeks at the time when philosophy was in its infant stages. so how did this un-Godly concept found its way into christianity.

Hell to me is a place where you are cut off from the presence and influence of God.

I believe if you search it out you will find that the Lord Jesus talked more about Hell than He did about Heaven. Jesus taught Hell is a place to be avoided! Hell was originally created fror the devil and his angels, NOT for mankind. The Bible says that Hell is enlarged to accommodate mankind, that is those who reject Jesus. (Matt 25:41). There are two descriptions of Hell......one is a burning fire, Gehenna, which in Jesus' time was the city dump, where there was always a fire burning. Those here experience remorse and torment (Mark 9:43-48). The other description given by Jesus is a place 'of outer darkness' - with weeping and gnashing of teeth , terrible loneliness, separation from God and man, totally alone (Matt. 8:12). There will be no exit from Hell, no way out, no second chance. This is why it is so important in this life, right now, that we need to receive pardon , the free gift that God gives freely.....thru His Son, Jesus. The doors of Heaven are open for all who wish to come.....

Hell is absolute and completely devoid of ANYTHING GOOD. This concept was spoken of by Jesus himself many times. God originated HELL.

I firmly believe each and every one who goes there, will be sort of encapsulated . Each person will NEVER SEE ANOTHER SOUL, loneliness , pain, grief, sorry, every human emotion one can have that is the opposite of JOY, each will endure forever and ever, eternally separated from everyone and everything, and most of all .....God.

Hell is NOT a place one can begin to describe, but it IS a place NO one should ever what to end up at. Hell was a place orignally designed for Satan and his Angels.

first of all, an innumerable amount of traditions, beliefs, practices, etc., which many would view as "pagan" or "anti-christian" are all throughout the books of the bible.
second, human beings use what they know to try to understand, grasp, and communicate an idea or even state of being. Thus, imagining it as a place where one dwells is easier for the mind to wrap around, since we all dwell somewhere. yet, the idea of hell by most scholars is total separation from God - that is the torture and the pain.

Hell is described as a bottomless pit (Luke 8:31, Revelation 9:1), and a lake of fire, burning with sulfur, where the inhabitants will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10). In hell, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, indicating intense grief and anger (Matthew 13:42). It is a place “where the worm never dies and the fire never goes out” (Mark 9:48). God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires them to turn from their wicked ways so that they can live (Ezekiel 33:11). But He will not force us into submission; if we choose to reject Him, He has little choice but to give us what we want – to live apart from Him.

What are you babbling on about. The Greeks. The Greeks did not even exist when the Old Testament passages about Hell were written.

Get your facts straight.

The true definition of Hell? you're right, Hell doesn't really exist, at least not in the way it's been taught. But there is a place where the darkness resides and it is a place very very evil, the likes of which most people could not understand.

Um ... maybe because Jesus preached about it repeatedly? In a sense hell is "ungodly" though, since it means absolute separation from God and from all that is godly - goodness, kindness, contentment, satisfaction, peace, hope, love, beauty, etc.

Christian hell is a joke. Just look at what Christians have in mind when they're talking about hell. It's so juvenile, it's embarrassing.

Hell is the complete and utter separation from God and His influence. Even those who don't believe benefit from His blessings on earth. In the after life, those who reject God and Jesus Christ, His Son, will have that total separation from all that is of God.
