Surely, a just God would not kill this poor guy just because he spilled some seeds on the ground?

"And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him. And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also." (Genesis 38:7-10)

It's a good thing Er was the firstborn and Onan the second, or we'd be referring to masturbation as Erism.

Doesn't quite roll off the tongue, now, does it?

But was Onan displeasing to the LORD for masturbating or was it because Onan did it so that he would not have sex with his brother's wife in order to have children for his brother?

Let's no forget the story of Onan, who was killed by God for spilling his "seed"!

No offense, but you obviously do not know that much about the Bible, or even the English language really. That passage has absolutely nothing to do with crops whatsoever.
