I would talk to your husband about it first, if I were you...

You should never have to ask permission to give to others :)

Yes, it is ok to want to tithe 50% of your paycheck.

So long as.....

You are putting aside at least 10% of what you make for yourself.

Thats the 10/10/80 rule (in our home the 20/10/70 rule)
10% or more you pay yourself
10% or more you give back
80% or less you live on

Another point: if you have decided you can be so generous with your giving, don't feel obligated to restrict that giving to one single source. In addition to your church, find other organizations that you believe in to donate your money and/or your time to.

Also, make sure this is a want you have, not that someone else is forcing upon you. If this is something that is coming from your heart, and is done selflessly (ie, you don't expect to gain from it in any way), then go for it!

You Bet. I am just so pleased that God has blessed you & you are such a good steward of what He has given you. There are some that do what is called REVERSE Tithing - they give 90% to God & live on 10%. God is using you in such a great way. I pray that you continue to be Blessed & are a Blessing to others. You may also want to consider supporting missions as well. Just pray and make sure you do the research as to who you give to. God will lead you if you have a willing heart.
Be Blessed!!

You can't. A tithe is only 10% the rest is a free-will offering.

Believe it or not, I know several people who give 20-30% on a monthly basis. It is not that uncommon amongst genuine believers.

Possibly stupid, but okay...

A standard tithe is 10%. If your church is demanding half...call the fraud squad, 'cause the preacher is on the make. If you personally have decided, with no outside influence, to give more than 10%, do...but remember that hardship is not necessarily good for the soul, so financial hardship is not a necessity to spiritual growth...

In any case, I wish you luck.

the word 'tithe' means 10th, so literally to tithe means to give 10%....so if you want to give up to 50% of your pay, you could designate the first 10% to tithe, then designate the other 40% to other ministries in your church. or you could just give the 50% and let the church decide how to split it up

If you can live on 50% of your income...YES!!!

The widow gave 100% in two examples in the bible, "the widow's mite", and the widow who gave her last food to the prophet of God.

50% is only HALF of what He gave you!!!

In fact, in the bible it was typical to tithe 30%+ (there were 3 10% tithes that believers gave BEFORE adding "offerings" over and above their obligation of 30%) You can look it up!

Our Lord Jesus ("Joshua" is Hebrew translation of the NT Greek word Jesus) the Christ gave ALL 100% for us!!!

We owe Him 100%, not ust 10%!

We are just stewards of what He has allowed us to receive. We are responcible for how we spend ALL our money!!! And all our TIME (not just the hour you are in church)!!!

God sees, not just what you give, but how much you tried to KEEP!!!

They say "you can't take it with you". In a way, you can.

You have to give it away, to "keep" it. You can never out-give God. All glory to Him.

He gave you life, and died for our sins! No greater love exists! God bless those who give their lives for God...and His children.

Jesus said "If you give some thing, even a glass of water, to the least of these, you have done it unto me!"

Won't you serve him today?

Use wisdom and love in 100%, not just giving to the church, but meeting needs of others too (including your own family).

We donate to the poor overseas, over and above a 10%+ "tithe" to our church.

A tithe is a tenth of the increase of produce or livestock, and not wages. And even if it were possible to tithe on wages, it would still be a tenth; not half.

Yes. If God has blessed you, it is perfectly fine to give back what you do not need. Rick Warren started at ten percent but then kept giving more and more because he could.

Also, dont associate giving people money with tithing to the church. They are separate but both are blessings

sure - you can do what you want with your own money. I think it says in the Bible to tithe 10% but like I said it's your money.

The obligation to tithe (i.e., to give 10 percent of one’s gross income) was binding only on the Jews. Jesus fulfilled the Mosaic law (Matt. 5:17), so even Jews are no longer bound by it. But this doesn’t mean we’re not obligated to support the Church-we are-but there is no longer a specific percentage required.

Scripture provides insight on how Christians should give:
On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper. (1 Cor. 16:2)

The point is this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Cor. 9:6-7)
There is no mandatory requirement to give a specific amount of money or percentage of our income. We should each decide for ourselves how much to give and then do so in the true spirit of giving a gift.
So basically it is your own free choice.
