A Remake of a Question I post a while back.

I finished a Science fiction story a while back, and It posed an interesting question for the protagonist, and I wondered what you R&Sers would do... So without further adeiu.

Okay let us assume that there IS a "god" of sorts, with Omni-escent knowledge and all, and say you were given a choice:

A) Merge with God Themself, thereby solving all conflict regarding indiviuality, and have infinate knowledge, or

B) Reject, stay on earth and become your own person.

I'm curious, what would you do?

Definitely A :-)

Being a sci-fi fan myself, I read a story that brought the same question to mind, but it offered another option, that I think it's at least POSSIBLE that we are each playing out in this life: To decide for a time to live a life, with no memory of having been part of a greater consciousness, so that you're playing for "keeps." It's the closest thing that I've found so far to how I think our existence works.

I already am merged with God. That's why I am called a 'New Creature' in Christ Jesus. I have a sinful independent dying 'self', yet at the same time, an eternal, all knowing 'good' Spirit of God living in me.

I would choose 'A' over 'B' any day. And He does solve conflict with self: the completion thereof promised later.

So I already made my choice. All I have to do is, remain faithful to Him. And as I do, I will understand the choice I made more and more.

Either way it is the same answer...

You are looking at it from a matter of perspective...

Think of it this way.

A.) Merge into a new being and become a new being (it would be if you merged)

B.) Become your own person...

You did B when you chose A and so on

You cannot merge with God and have infinite knowledge
while you are alive. All you can do is stay on earth and ACCEPT God or REJECT God.

You have correctly stated the basic premise of the Judaeo-Christian faith.

Except for the "stay" part.

If you decide to live your own life separate from God, you may, but it will end (badly).

Bring lots of sunscreen.

hmm, neither. I guess A, I'm not so in love with myself that I feel the need to stick around, especially around some of the types that might choose B :)

a=death. My consciousness is not God's, therefore i could not survive the transplant.

choose B, become God's allied consciousness, however inferior.

a is not Godlier; you have wasted His time by destroying yourself and trying to be God.

Become my own person. One of the joys in life for me is learning and dreaming of the mysteries in life.

Neither. I am at one with God and still have my individuality. I was not forced to accept God and therefore did not lose my individuality. I can still be 'me' and walk with God at the same time.
