I'm Catholic, and alot of people argue with me that I should join their church, and Catholicism is wrong, and our traditions are wrong, and we shouldn't pray to Mary....(Just so everyone who thinks we worship Mary, we don't....We worship God, and God alone, Mary is someone we pray to to help us bring us closer to God....)

Catholics are the original Christians. The early Christians grew into what we now know as the Catholic Church. In the late 1500s a Catholic priest, named Martin Luther, decided he knew better and split from the Church. He started the Protestant reformation and is the father of the thousands of religions and biblical interpretations we now have.

So, we were the first Christians, why does everyone say we're wrong....When the Catholic Church has been around alot longer than the Baptist's or Seventh Day Adventists....And we have the tradition?

Thanks everyone....I just want everyone's opionion on this...

Thanks....

This is the most disgusting category I've
seen on Answers. It is Christian bashing/
God bashing/Bible bashing. Without even a minimum of human decency.
If a person wants to know what hell is
like, just read some of these questions.

When I was stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii in the Marine Corps, I swear to God that I seen what I took to be an angle of the Lord and this angle even want as far as interpreting a passage out of the book of Revelation for me. Now I'm not really religious or anything, I believ in God and all and I'm not trying to shove my beliefs down anybodys throught or anything, I'm just curious about what people think amongst other things. Now I may be nuts etc., etc., etc. BUT.....IF- JUST IF, and bear with me for a moment and I beg your pardon....IF and I say IF theoretically If I did see an angle of the Lord. What does this mean etc., etc., etc. One person said that IF I did see an angle of the Lord, so what life goes on and one still has to get up and go to work nothing really changes. what's your imput.

So you guys think that the bible is the word of god but was written by man. What if those couple of men were corrupted when they wrote the book?? Why believe in something that could be corrupted?? Look at the koran for instance, it was sent straight from god to prophet muhammed. Everyone memorized the verses that were sent by muhammed so there was no way that it could be edited

Evolution is fact. There is no use denying the overwhelming proof of this phenomenon. But what I want to know is could the Christian faith correlate realistically with evolution, since the Christian faith at one time taught that the six day creation myth was fact? I haven't been to church in over a year and before that I only went randomly in the three years before that. I had essentially lost my faith because I don't think they can coexist. It just doesn't add up to me. Could it though? state your reasoning and don't give me ridiculous bible verses that I don't care about. Give me a legitimate answers.

p.s.- Is there an afterlife?

Since this is a pretty tight-knit community, how about we get to know each other a little?

I'll start:

I'm 46, female, and reside in Louisiana, US. I have three children (who have already flown the coop), and I like to write, read, play board games, and go camping.

Lots of stars, so we can learn about everyone, please.

personally, i think they are stupid. i mean, Christians are supposed to be a unified body, why should we separate ourselves because of little things? i understand that some of the things are more than little, but why do we constantly accuse the other denominations of being wrong? can't we just believe what we believe without all the conflict?

everything we do is supposed to be in love, so why do we act like we hate other denominations?

and i have a sense of humor, so you don't have to be all technical, you can amuse me a little!

You all say you don't pray to Mary, that you ask her to pray for you. We all know Mary is dead, so how is it possible for you to ask her to pray for you without praying to her? Perhaps Father K could be roused for this one?

I am a christian prodistant, and I ask..... Why? Why do we argue? Why can't we live in peace? I f we look into most religions in the world muslims, jewish people, and all major religions today we will find that they preach peace. Why do we feel the need. Don't tell me satan or whatever.... We all have a choice, sure they are partialy responsible but we have the free will to ingnore them. I wonder what any of the gods people believe in would think of them. As a christian I know God is discusted with it all. So I ask, Why?

Ok, so I would love to know everyone's personal beliefs about their religion/spirituality and why they believe in it. I am really confused about how I feel about various religions and I would like to know other peoples thoughts and perspectives so if you could just write a little bit about your religion/spiritual beliefs and why you believe them I would be really grateful.

I've heard that he's at the highest level of Scientology.
Does that mean he forked over a ton of money to get there?
About how much?
And if so,
What are the merits of that?
What does he get in return besides knowing a little bit more of a story. Or is that it? What are the merits of being the highest level of scientology?

I've observed this scene nearly every time I've visited a Roman Catholic Church in the USA.

I observed several praying to Mary, at the Mission Church located in San Gabriel when I was there in March.

Those praying were mostly Hispanics, not Muslims.

The San Gabriel Mission is located in Southern California about five miles or so south of Pasadena.

Here's the prayer as I used to recite it (as a Catholic):

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Is such a prayer sinful?
