The day God rested.. when he created the world

In the Bible, the Jews observed Saturday as the Sabbath, but in the Christian community, Sunday is the day of worship. In some churches, like the Roman Catholic Church, Saturday mass is offered as well as Sunday mass. For Christians, Sunday is still a traditional day to worship. If you ever feel like you need strength which the world can't provide, try worship in the church of your choice. Good luck.

LLama,
The Sabbath was the day that GOD completed HIS work and rested after HIS Creation. The Sabbath began at sunset on Friday and lasted through Saturday. The Israelites/Jewish People always had their religious worship then. The Christians have religious worship on Sunday because we are told in the New Testament that they met to partake of the LORD'S SUPPER and to give on the First Day of the Week (Sunday). Have a WONDERFUL WEEK!
Thanks,
Eds

G-D blessed and sanctified the seventh day as the sabbath the day he rested from his work. Sunday is the first day of the week. G-D said remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Jesus rested on the seventh day and rose on the first day of the week which is Sunday. the Catholics changes the Sabbath day to coincide with some kind of pagan holiday. The Jews have kept the Sabbath day for centuries. It goes from Friday night sundown to Saturday night sundown. All kinds of churches use all kinds of excuses to justify why they don't attend the correct day. Look up Sunday in the dictionary it will say the first day of the week. It is a commandment to remember the seventh day the Sabbath.

I am assuming you are asking why Christians go to church on Sunday. The Sabbath originally was Saturday and the day God rested which is why Jews still attend temple on Saturdays. As they do not recognize as the son of God, they did not change their day of worship to Sunday as the Christians did. Christ was nailed to the cross on Friday, was placed in a tomb and raised again on Sunday. This is the reason Sunday is the day of worship for Christians.

Also, Muslims traditionally worship on Friday. They recognize Christ as a prophet but not the son of God.
Hope this helps.

In the bible, Got created the world in 7 days. On the 7th day, which is considered Sunday, he rested. Some religions go to chuch on this day because it is a day of rest. The real Sabbath day (which means the day to go to church) is Saturday. I think the Jewish religion goes on Saturdays. I am a non-denominational Christian. I could go to chruch any day of the week. Worshiping God does not only need to be done on Sundays. I think the Sunday thing is just tradition and has become more of a ritual than anything. Hope this helps!

well actually.. God rested on the seventh day.. being Sabbath.. the same Sabbath that the Jews rested on as well.. which is Saturday.. Sunday was a day that Constantine made "christians" worship on.. in fact the early Christians were associated with the jews by the sabbath.. so the Roman Catholic church changed the day of worship and made it sunday.. if you are catholic you can worship on this day because the roman catholic church claims authority over what the bible teaches.. but hey... that's just me.. a true catholic will tell you to worship everyday.. taking away from the essential Sabbath and Law finishing day that God had made
thanks...

God created heaven and earth, animals and plants, lands and oceans, all of this splendor. "On the 7th day, he rested" that quote is in the Bible. People basically pay their respects by doing the same-no work, no chores, no going out with friends, it's a day of rest and what better way to relax than going to church and hearing some gospel? Can I get an AMEN

Sunday is ONE of the days most believers go to church. There is Wednesday night bible class, then there is prayer on Tuesday and Thursday nights, then Friday night is youth service.

There is church all week! And thank God because if I had to wait until Sunday to get rejuvenated, I would be a MESS!

It is a tradition, not a commandment. It began in the first century when Christians used to get together on the Sabbath (Saturday) in the Jewish tradition, but they became easy targets for people wanting to persecute the early church. They began to meet in secret on Sunday. Also the resurrection of Jesus took place on Sunday.
