This is the most disgusting category I've
seen on Answers. It is Christian bashing/
God bashing/Bible bashing. Without even a minimum of human decency.
If a person wants to know what hell is
like, just read some of these questions.

I'm a Christian. I visit this category frequently because I enjoy learning about the viewpoints and beliefs of others. Yes, some people bash religion here, but there are also many individuals who have something interesting to say. I've learned plenty here in R&S. If you were expecting this site to cater only to Christianity, that's not happening. It's an open forum for people of all religions (note that it's "Religion & Spirituality" rather than "Christianity), and it's also for those who don't profess any religious belief at all. I personally appreciate the diversity of opinion here.

The majority of people who come here are respectful and sincere. Sometimes people have honest questions and just want an honest answer, as a true Christian, I want to help people who want my help. Also, read your Bible, Hell is unimaginably worse than anything you could possibly find here! I'm not used to the Christians I hang out with being so judgmental, either, you really want to get in that Bible a little more!

It isn't just on R&S, it's on the daily news, workplace, schools, neighborhoods, etc. Satan and the non-believer's would love for true Christians to cut tail and run, but Truth stands in the face of adversity. We have this treasure in earthen vessels, God's power dwelling inside us that enables all the humiliations, bashing, to not defeat us... but strengthen us. We are persecuted, but not destroyed all so God's power can be revealed through us. We will not disappear until Jesus sounds the trumpet call. Until then, fight like a soldier worthy of the victory that is already ours.

I like to answer in this catagory because you never know....you may just hit a "cord" with that person and they will read on what you have to say. You may even lead that person to Jesus. That is why I answer in this catagory. I want these people to know that there is a Supreme Being, GOD, that loves them more than anyone on this Earth. As far as the harsh questions, I look at them as an opportunity to tell them about Jesus. It is better than going door to door. I am not a Mormon or Seventh Day Advent but I should be witnessing more than I do. I figure I can witness here. GOD gave me this opportunity and I am GRABBING IT UP to witness for HIM. I hope this has helped. Blessings.

do you regard any criticism as bashing? i'm asking this because this comment comes up time and time again without actually defining what the criteria of bashing is. if it's the outright rudeness and name calling i'll agree with you but if you mean the questioning of christianity's basic validity, testing the evidence, pointing out fallacies. questioning the validity of the holy texts, the historical existence of jesus and the logicality of the concept of a god is not bashing, it is free speech. i assume you're not against free speech and the freedom to enquire into the nature of the universe are you. i believe that's how they operate in iran and the people's republic of china.

Is a true Christian someone who accepts what the priests, ministers and pastors say, or are they allowed to question, in your opinion? That's why there's this category.

If there are bashers here it's because the intellectually, spiritually and philosophically curious tend to NOT be unquestioning Christians, but questioning agnostics and -- GASP! -- atheists. And I bet there are a LOT here who were never even raised Christian!

I rather enjoy the diversity that it represented on this forum. It is very easy, as a Christian to find yourself in a "Christian bubble". Before you know it, you will have no acquaintances that are not Christian. Then what are your chances of leading anyone to Christ if you only associate with believers. I've found, for the most part, on this site that if you are courteous and respectful in your questions/answers you will get the same in return.

Blessed Be

good point.some of these questions, and the answers, are pretty dispicable.
some of these people, don't believe what we do.they don't understand the reality of what's being said.either they really, truly believe that there is no hell,or else they get scared because they think there might be.
some people feel so ashamed for things they've done, they're afraid to come to god.they fear he won't accept them.or they don't see him as loving and merciful.they might think he's mad at them.unfortunately,a lot of christians, myself included, have given the impression that god is mad at them.when i get frustrated with all the hurtful comments people make,i get upset and i condemn people.the thing is,i can't say if god is mad at them.if anything,he might be mad at me,for acting self-righteous and like a hypocrite.
i come on here.because i like to see what people are saying.a lot of people ask some really interesting questions.and although there are some christians who come down hard on people, there are some truly loving and gracious christians on here.i find more good christians on here, than i've found the negative ones.
i myself am one of the negative people.but i am encouraged by the truly loving and gracious christians who inspire people with their gentle spirit.the presence of jesus is truly manifested through these people and the love they show to everyone.even to people who bash christianity and christians in general.

I'm a Christian, and I just avoid the questions that look like they will get really controversial. I have heard some amazing testimonies from other Christians here, and I like to share my own as well. That's why I love it here.
