(to the first question in bold).

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians. Judaism is a different religion from Jehovah's Witnesses.

Ironically, Jehovah's Witnesses are UNIQUE among self-described "Christians" in that they actually *DO* believe in the same monotheistic, non-trinitarian Almighty Father as Jews did and typically still do.

Jehovah's Witnesses are great students of the Hebrew Scriptures (they even refuse to call it an "Old Testament"). Jehovah's Witnesses appreciate the richness and robustness of the Law and the prophets, and recognize the literal thousands of ways they point toward Christianity. They recognize that a substantial number of the "kings and priests" who rule forever alongside Jesus must be ethnic Jews.

Jehovah's Witnesses are also unique in applying many of the principles of God's dealings with the nation of Israel to the modern Christian congregation.

Regarding their rejection of the so-called "trinity", Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Scriptures quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.

(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation

(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth

(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak

(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Thanks again for an opportunity to share what the bible actually says about the distinct persons of Jesus Christ the Son and Jehovah God the Father!

I notice you got a lot of "no" answers but few explanations.

Jehovah' Witnesses are one of the larger and more well known post-Jesus Abrahamic religions to have their start in the United States (also, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, and a few others).

They started during a major religious revival where people were going back to the bible for a fresh new look and were getting VERY different interpretations compared to the classic denominations.

One of the many and main reasons that other Christians dispute calling JWs Christians is because they do not agree on the one thing that almost ALL other major branches of Christianity do: the Divine Trinity
That by itself would have gotten them burned alive for heresy (despite the fact that it was not always canon) only a couple of hundred years ago.

Jews on the other hand are both a religion and a ethnicity. Some Jewish denominations do accept Jesus as being messiah but a majority of the Jewish people believe that not only was he NOT the messiah, he was NOT the son of god, and not even a prophet.
One of the older Jewish Testaments called the Pentateuch is what most Westerners think of as the Christian Old Testament.
Jesus was a Jew.

No, Jewish people where born Jewish and Jehovah Witnesses are a mixed group of people with many different nationalities. As far as taking the JeW out of Jehovah Witnesses and then thinking they had some type of connection you was just confused for a while and it is ok. As far as the beliefs of Jehovah Witnesses are concern you can go to www.watchtower.org and look at that website and find out some information. Jewish is not a religion it is a nationality, like I'm African American. Don't worry all questions have a right to be answered and I hope this helped you out.

that would only work in english. in spanish witness is testigo and jew is judeo. so, despite a LOT of the answers that are all over the spectrum, jehovah's witnesses were the first religion in existance. here is how to find that point out.

1-jehovah has been in existance for ever. he was first called yhwh, no vowels in the old hebrew, and was pronounced more or less yihoweh or yihowahh. we dont know.

2- his first creative act was his son, now known as jesus, or the christ, the messiah, the word, the holy one of god, etc.

as that one SAW what his father did, he witnessed these acts. that is why he is the first witness of jehovah. he is specifically called the faithful and true witness, not the faithful and true baptist, catholic or muslim. a witness.

3-if you have ever been to court, you will see they call witnesses to testify about specific acts or actions. if the witness tells the truth, fine. but, if he just sorta sits there like a bump on a log, he is worthless. and, the judge will get reeeeally ticked off and toss his behind in the cooler.

4- today, jehovahs witnesses try to follow the christ, and do as he did. he is our exemplar, teacher and leader.
christ went door to door; so do we. he preached to all persons, whatever their religion; so do we. he taught persons of a receptive heart; so do we.

now, the difference: he was jewish; we are gentiles for the most part, but some are 'spiritual israel'. and you can look that up in the WTS site.
he was perfect. we aint even close.
everything he said was correct 100%. we hit in about 80% or so.

does that mean we are evil, bad, wicked because we make mistakes? nope, not even close.

we are making the best effort we can in a world filled with violence, freaky sex, dishonesty and death. when others accuse us of making an error, as some above here do, i only ask 'what has your church / group' done in that venue?

usually i get a lame strawman or ad hominem attack. so, i let them be. they are blind guides.

all jews before christ were AT ONE TIME jehovah's witnesses. they witnessed the creation if their nation as one dedicated TO jehovah thru the actions and faith of abraham. they watched their little brother save their necks in egypt when they ran out of food.

they saw their african slave owners of egypt destroyed in ten very specific plagues that attacked their gods.
they also witnessed the army drown in the red sea.

they witnessed a lot. sadly, tho they witnessed the birth, childhood and ministry of jesus as the christ/ messiah, they did not heed the message. that is why jehovah called them a stiff necked people.
thru his christian writers, it was specifically noted that the kingdom would be taken FROM the jews and given to a people for HIS name.

hence, we are trying to be the best witnesses to jehovah that we can be.

and that's the SHORT answer.

No. The Jews, as you know, believe that the Messiah has not yet come. The JWs are a sect of Christianity, with a large focus on speaking what they believe to be God (the Father's) name (Jehovah). In comparison, the Jews would be horrified to hear someone saying that name out loud (they believe it is too sacred to speak).

They do, however, share some common background as being "people of the book"... ie the old testament.

I was jewish before I became a Jehovah Witness. they are not the same. we as Jehovah Witnesses are christian. we are not a cult as many keep saying. a cult worships man, we worship Jehovah God and do what Jesus Christ commanded at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. we live in our own homes.

Not even close. Jehovah's Witnesses include some beliefs about Jesus in their teachings. Jews do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah. They believe that the Messiah is yet to come.
