While there has been much debate about the rapture, the Bible does not address which of the three theories will occur. Man have theorized over time and after much thought and debate to preditc that there are three scenarios under which the true believers will be saved at the end of the world. This is commonly the result of humans trying to make sense out of the unknown wspecially when dealing with an intangible item of faith. I believe that the pre-tribulation rapture will take those who are forgiven before the tribulation occurs. Please see the following website for interesting information about the this subject: http://www.beliefnet.com/study_groups/studygroup_message_list.asp?studyGroupID=6238&discussionID=370006

Origin of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture Theory
The pre-tribulation rapture theory is not something that God has revealed to us in these last days. Nor can this belief be found any where in the Bible. Indeed it is a false doctrine that has been perpetuated through well-meaning men for the past few generations.
There is no known writing, or any kind of reference by any writer about the pre-tribulation rapture prior to 1830. None of the early Church fathers or anyone else throughout Church history wrote about the saints being raptured before Jesus Christ comes back. This does not conclusively mean that the theory is false, only that it is a historical fact that this teaching did not exist among the early Christians or the Church fathers or any Christians throughout history until 1830.
The origin of the pre-tribulation rapture theory began with a fifteen-year-old girl named Margaret MacDonald in the town of Port Glasgow, Scotland. Supposedly in 1830 she had a dream or vision that Christians were raptured just prior to the Great Tribulation. In 1831 or 1832 a Presbyterian pastor in London, England named Edward Irving heard about this dream or vision that Miss MacDonald had and started teaching it to his congregation. These are well-known reports among scholars of eschatology.

The pre-trib rapture is impossible. Paul and Jesus, as well as others tell us the rapture is after the tribulation. I have listed two links below for help. There are a few passages that are most important, and they are listed promenantly on the page in the first link below. Paul tells us that the last trumpet will sound before the rapture and the book of Revelation tells us that's when Jesus will return.

No because Matthrew 24:21,22 says that if he didn't cut short the great tribulation all flesh would die. But because of the chosen ones he cut the tribulaiton short.
If they were raptured out, it wouldn't matter how long it took.
They always point to 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 But it says the survivors. Those they had to be surviveing something.

I am quoting Father K

"The doctrine of a secret rapture was first conceived by (I am embarassed to say), an ex-Anglican clergyman by the name of John Nelson Darby who founded the Plymouth Brethren in 1827. Darby, known as the father of dispensationalism, invented the doctrine claiming there were not one, but two "second comings." This teaching was immediately challenged as unbiblical by other members of the Brethren.

How it is still around, I have no clue....but the "Left Behind" garbage is everywhere. "

Yes, rapture of the church is before the tribulation.
All born again Christians know this.
Read Revelations.

Better yet, Believe that Jesus is the Son
of God and that He left the glory of heaven
to be born on earth and that He loves you
soooo much that He died on the cross to
save you from hell and that He rose on the
third day and is now sitting at the right hand
of God the Father.
Then you will be raptured with me.
