Frankly I don't get it.

It is for freedom that Christ has set you are free. - Galatians 5:1

All the law is summed up in Love your neighbor as yourself. - Galatians 5:14

He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Colossians 2

Compare how people reacted to Harry Potter, and how people everyday react to the bible.

I am a christian and I love the Harry Potter books. So I must be going to hell right? Jeeze.

Anyway. When Harry Potter came out, many people...TONS of people said it was a horrible and awful book. People judged it, talked about it when they havent even READ it!!! Basically, they looks like idiots cause they were saying how stupid and evil it was when in reality they have never even picked up the book.

Same thing with the bible.
people say "Well if prayer works the pray for God to prove himself" and tons of other things....Well, if you had acutally stuck your nose in the bible you would know that it doesn't work that way.
People judge the bible. Talk about the bible...and yet they havent even read it.

Why should you be agrueing something when you dont even know anything about the somthing your talking about?

We have a 2 year old son with Autism. He cant talk yet. But when he is alone in his room at night, he likes to talk to himself.

Some of our friends came over for dinner last night. they thought it was weird, but cute. So we set up a videp tape in his room, shut the door, and we all sat in the living room as quite as we could. About 1 hour later, we went back in his room and got the tape. We all watched it toghether. Our son was pointing at the celing, laughing, snmiling, and talking. Then, we all heard a man's voice whisper "Turn Your Head." I am terrified now, because i dont know what to think. I know it was real, becasue no one was in his room but him! And the only way someone could get into his room is if they went past me. There was no t.v, radio, or anything on.

This is our first house. We moved here in April. The house was build in the early 1900's. The man that lived here before us past away here. I dont really believe in ghost, but how do i explain that voice on da tape

I have played around on Y!A for a little over nine months now and made some pretty good friends as well as some pretty nasty enemies. I have seen many come & go and it kind of bothers me, but I manage. I know it is impossible to please everyone and personally it would be pretty stupid of me to believe that I could. However, I want to make a difference in someone's life and I know that 99% of you has made an impact on the life of another.
I am not usually this sappy and I apologize for breaking character. I have a request to ask of each and everyone of you. It is a simple request and it oughta not take up too much time or energy. This question is going to be a 24 hour social experiment to break up the monotony of religious debate so often seen on this forum.
I ask that you perform a random act of kindness tomorrow and make a difference in someone's life. It can be big or small. All I ask right now is to draw on your own personal beliefs and make a difference. Will you do it?

It's news to me anyway cause I have never reported anyone. My sister just got mad at someone and reported them. Then Yahoo advised her that ........

"Are you sure that you want to report this user? If you are in the habit of reporting other people you will lose your account for violating community guidelines."

Yahoo went on to say that ...... "violation notices are only sent if 2 or more people report the same question or answer"

(You may have already known the above Yahoo changes, but it was news to me. )

So my question is ..... Do you believe things will get better in regards to unfair reporting and unfair suspensions of our accounts?

can you please pray to god to perform a modern day miracle that can be independently verified and is not coincidence, hearsay, anectdotal, allegory, metaphorical or natural phenomena.

after all, you claim that prayer works, so it shouldn't be much to ask god.

if not then you believe in a fantasy.

I believe in God. Woo Hoo, big deal, stone me for all I care.

In the bible, which honestly I dont believe everything that is in the bible. But for arguments sake...In the bible it says that God created everying in 7 days.
Well, later on it says that a million years to us is like one day for got...so what if those "7 days" were really 7 million years?
Evolution is a total possibility. I still throw God in there, because thats just me. But there is a total and complete possibility that that is how it happened.

Anyone agree?

I would like to devise a plan with a journal entry question and answer forum for teens with questions that are non-biased, morality related, that can be answered differently by each individual. In doing so, my goal is to facilitate self identity.

Just curious-if you believe in Creationism and/or disbelieve in evolution, could you please list the sect of christianity you follow? If you are not christian, but believe the same, could you tell me what your belief system is called?
I just wanted to know which sects agree with evolution (like Catholics) and which taught creationism.

Also, is it the 6000 year creationism or some other?

Thanks!

Hello, all:

Some responders to this question,

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApcCZZb_86W4JA_CVm9JqZEjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20070930101051AAYyUUm

indicated that they do not believe that Wiccans and other Pagans have anything in our moral code that encourages us to be compassionate towards others and act to reduce suffering in the world.

What do you think of this? As a Wiccan/Pagan, IS there anything in your moral code or personal beliefs that leads you to take positive action against the suffering of others? Do you volunteer for or donate to any charities, for example?

Thank you in advance to all who take the time to respond.

Just so we're clear no I'm not an atheist or anything like that but I'm curious as to why we have so many people that believe that God does not exist. I mean isn't it pretty clear that he does? Most people believe that the bible is just a magical myth and we're just scientific creatures who are going to die out any day and that's it period. They believe that there is no afterlife. But how can we prove that this is false, why are there so many people that believe God is not real?

Someone begged me and my friends to pray for her mom, whom is dying of cancer. The doctors cant help, so its now gotten down to hope.
She asked a few of us to pray for her mom.
But I heard a few people mutter "Prayed doesn't help, if she lives, its because her body fought, not because of your fairy in the sky"

Why would someone say something like that?
That is my question.
Why would someone say that?

I could understand everyday life, trying to prove a christian that their idiots...but when it comes to someone that is dying...thats being downright cruel. And I dont care if you think its okay and that "those people" need to wake up.

Why would a human being go out of their way to be cruel to someone that is going through a rough time?
Is it just because human beings are naturally cruel? Or is there a better reason???

Back in the day, my friends and I used smoke weed.... a lot. Well we also kinda used to rip pages out of the bible and use them for rolling paper. We found the very thin pages ideal for rolling the finest of joints and blizzies. Its was also cheaper to steal a bible from church, than to keep buying joker rolling paper over and over again.

Is this the sort of stuff god frowns upon, or do you think he'll give me another shot before sending me to the firey depths of hell for all eternity.

Bear with me for a minute, if you will...

Creationists and fundamentalists, I've heard some of you claim that many non-believers base their misconceived ideas of and non-belief in Christianity on the fringe or whacko "Christians" (i.e., Ku Klux Klan, child molesting bishops and priests, Ken Haggard more recently, I could go on...). I think most of you would agree that these people represent a minority of those who call themselves Christians.

Why, then, would you assume the small minority of scientists (and even smaller minority of biologists) that don't believe in evolution actually better represent the biological point of view of evolution than the other 95-98% of the rest of scientists? Aren't you falling into the same trap that you are claiming we (atheists, agnostics, pagans) fall into when we criticize your religion? Aren't we just as justified when we tell you not to listen to these fringe "scientists" such as Michael Behe and Ken Ham?
