lol. No, but apparently Nathaniel Hawthorne did. Read "Rip van Winkle."
Personally, as a Christian of high intelligence and spirituality, I think a thunderstorm is God moving His furniture around up in heaven. Every now and then He drops a heavenly armoire.

One cannot fully separate the Creator from His creation.
Jer 23:19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.

Bob Ross, I have seen your questions before. Why spend so much time poking fun at God, get a life. Stop preying on the christians with stupid meaningless questions. Go outside, read a book, listen to some music, just stop antaganizing us!

There is only one reason to say that God is bowling, you tell a child that to help them not to afraid of the thunder. What would tell a child? As far what it really was my great nephew asked me about it when he was seven, I told him about the fronts hitting but he is different he confronts his fear as his uncle. We are both Christians and proud of it.

Depends on what story was told to each family by the elders in the old.
I was told that God is angry and frighten us so we will mend our ways and remember to say our prayers without fail.
