Frankly I don't get it.

It is for freedom that Christ has set you are free. - Galatians 5:1

All the law is summed up in Love your neighbor as yourself. - Galatians 5:14

He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Are you READING Colossians 2 at all?

Some of you seem to be skipping all the verses about the religious festivals, sabbaths, new moon celebrations.

No one is ever truly "free". We are subject to God's will; we are subject to Man's laws; we are subject to earth and physical forces and the laws of physics.
Every one, do what you can do....

When Christ said: that It is for freedom that Christ has set you free, He wasn't talking about a physical freedom. He was talking about a spiritual freedom. You wonder why people subjugate themselves to spiritual regulations? Its because I would rather have rules to follow in Christ than not have rules and live of this world. And its not like the ten commandments are that bad to have right? Their just telling you what you already know. And yes Christians, everyone lies and some might cheat on their spouses but its through Christ that he can help give me the strength I need to get away from that temptation. When Christ said that he has set you free, was anyone in worldly bondage? No. But everyone was in Spiritual bondage. I hope this help you understand that their are no spiritual "regulations". Their are just some guide lines to help you with your spiritual walk. Don't take these verses out of context when trying to prove a point. I'm going to pray that the lord will help you find what you are looking for.

In Christ,

The freedom that Christ gives us , does not mean freedom to do whatever we want- the freedom that I have in Christ, gives me the joy and the privilege of following Christ. Christ died to set me free from sin, not free to sin- there is a huge difference here- and when we know Jesus obedience to Him becomes a joy not a set of rules to follow.

The citizens of the U.S. are "free" to express themselves in any reasonable & harmless way they see fit. There are a number of other freedoms that we enjoy (whether we know that we're free to have/do them or not). It has nothing to do with religion.

There is nothing in this world that says we MUST follow a religion. That is one of the freedoms of the U.S.....freedom of religion (if one so chooses). So, if people insist on following religious regulations, it is their choice. Don't forget - God gave us ALL the freedom to choose. I choose to believe in Him and to follow His teachings as best I can, but I do not feel that I must follow the regulations of the church. N'est ce pas?

it's like people on a diet who lost a lot of weight. when they don't follow some sort of plan, don't they tend to go back to the bad habits that made them fat in the first place? (i've seen REALLY high stats for people who gain all their weight back!)

by disciplining themselves to follow specific *regulations* such as a low carb lifestyle with constant monitoring, those people who have lost weight and kept it off, no longer have the problem of obesity.

when we follow Christ, it doesn't mean that we become perfect in all ways. it's a daily struggle and it helps to be disciplined to stay strong...

Belief in religion does not translate into regulations...and of course, we CHOOSE to believe in a specific religion, we CHOOSE to believe in God. No one subjects themselves to anything we do not choose ourselves. So all of us ARE free, thank you for asking.

Christians don't really have any formal restrictions like other religions; we restrict ourselves according to how we feel Christ would want us to live.

I am free, and I don't subject myself to any religious regulations. I am a pagan and walk my path in freedom

Those who are forgiven are forgiven in full, but forgiveness requires repentance, to know you have done wrong and be sorry about it. If we live thinking nothing we do is wrong, we will never repent and never be forgiven

because the church and other religious institutions have brainwashed people for thousands of years into believing crap and doing crap so that the church can have power and money. this brainwash has become what we call "religious traditions" and evolved into weird rules and laws that dont even make sense.
