Yes, atheist don't believe in god. Most, however, would wonder why you would want to be an atheist who believes in astrology. I wonder that myself.

The critical thinking and rational thought processes that helped you take a stance on the the subject of gods' existences should eventually lead you away from pseudosciences and beliefs such as astrology, reincarnation, palm reading, reiki and many other quackeries.

In the meantime, have fun with astrology, but know that astrologers and other charlatans are known to exploit the vulnerabilities of innocent people for financial gains.

The two things I find interesting (and it comes from the Atheist ranks, who are SUPPOSED to be super intellegent) is how many people don't understand Astrology (they just quote the party line) and how many people think Atheism=Science, which isn't a truth.

You can disbelieve in Science and still be an Atheist. You can disbelieve in Darwin and still be an Atheist.

Why do people equate Atheism and Science.

They think for some reason they go hand in hand.

Science spews a lot of Bull Hockey that a lot of people, even some Atheists, can't get behind like String Theory or accepeting that a shimmy in a star means there has to be a planet.

Now, stop an think for a second

If a planet can cause a star 30 light years away to shimmy, why do you think it could do to you at a distance of 100 million miles.

Now a PLANET has SUCH a profound effect on star, but not on people.

That's a pretty harsh and conflicting statement to make.

The moon and sun can raise trillions and trillons of pounds of water 10 feet but has no effect on you and me.

Gravity wells are a strange entity, pround enough to leave signatures from 30 lights away that allow us to start naming the six planets orbiting that star but they don't have any effect on you and me.

Maybe someone needs to stand back and look at man and see if he shimmies a little.

Yes, of course you can. Astrology, as I understand it, asserts that positions of planets stars, and other astral bodies, through gravitational influence, dictates our behavior as individuals.

It is commonly thought that the lunar cycle can influence when the best time to fish is. I have a watch that is dependent on this, but I haven't had time to test the theory.

On the other hand, no, you can't. Who created astrological bodies? God.

Astrology is a dehabilitating and limited theology.

Anyone I know can tell you that I'm no bible thumper, and even the Pope says that certain current scientific theories and catholicism can coexist. I'm catholic, and often have trouble with the Church's teachings, but what we know about creation is too little to flat out say there is no God. More like pointless rebellion.

The muslims say "inshallah", it is in Gods hands or God willing.

The movement of the planets, though good to keep track of, do NOT govern my behavior, and it would be silly for me to pretend that my chosen religion is the only answer.

I suppose, from an academic standpoint.

But astrology is based on the idea that heavenly bodies influence our daily lives. That is, the bodies are supernatural...and if you don't believe in God/Goddess/gods...whatever... I don't see how you'd believe that planets and stars and stuff have a supernatural impact.

I mean, if you can make it work for yourself with no supernatural strings attached, okey-doke. It would be interesting, I suppose.

But to truly believe in it, you'd have to believe in the supernatural, so I doubt that would go too well with your general atheist leanings.

I don't think you can really reconcile the two. Either you believe in the supernatural and astrology, or you don't believe in the supernatural. I mean, study what you want, but if you find yourself believing in astrology...you'll have to give up being an atheist because your beliefs have shifted elsewhere.

You can be interested in it, you can be interested in whatever you like.

But you should not rely on something unless you can show that there is a good correlation. For astrology, if your horoscope is accurate when you look at it at the end of the day, with impartial eyes, then go ahead. You do not need to prove how it works, just prove that it does work.

As far as I know astrology has been proved not to work so far.

I suppose you can be, although it is a bit unusual. I am an Atheist too; and the way I look at it, is that if the stars determine our fate, why bother at all? We might as well just give it all up.

Besides, I have never seen any more evidence that astrology is real than I have that God is real.

Yeah, sure. You just don't believe in a god to be an atheist, but you can do astrology.

I don't think astrology is a religion of any sort but I think some of it is based upon mythology of some ancient religions. I think you can be If you take it as a fantasy type thing. Like Miss Cleo or something like that.

Honey, one has nothing to do with the other.

An atheist is one who does not believe there is a God.
Astrology is the science of determining the subtle effects of planetary alignments and positions on us poor human beings.

So - go ahead and be an atheistic astrologer.
