Weapons are like the genie out of the bottle: unless you want to live in a police state, it is too late to get rid of them completely. And if you get rid of them partially, only the most criminalized elements of society will be able to use them. Also, the citizens' right to bear arms as a form of ultimate government control should be maintained, even if the event of a tyrannical government is highly hypothetical — at least in north america.

Religions result from the human desire to believe lies, keeping us socially and morally primitive. Such lies, burrowed in human desire, are too powerful to be destroyed.

While I appreciate your rhetorical question, I fear all we can do at the moment is damage control.

I don't care about religion or weapons. I would prefer the world rid itself of idiots (that would take care of a lot of problems with both religion and weapons), but I wouldn't have near as much fun here.

Good question because with no weapons, religious people would still cause damage.

However, religion is not the only reason people use weapons.

Hmmm.

I guess I would prefer to get rid of weapons (provided it was all of them).

Religion by far, because religious fanatics will use weapons to cause harm onto those who are not part of their religion. Religion is the cause of most deaths in human history. The Inquisition alone was responsible for the deaths of 100,000 people during the witchcraft craze.

Weapons meaning every kind of weapon? If that's the case then weapons, obviously. I'm not an atheist that is against religion or one that hates religion, I simply do not agree with them or believe in the possibility of god or gods. If people want to believe in god and follow a religion then that's fine by me.

It's really sad (or it is glad) to see how many stupid Atheists actually think religon has a need for or uses weapons.

Bill Graham when to the UK and convered 40,000 people in one week without the use of a gun or rile

In America, England, Sweden, Canada, Denmark, France Islamics are converting people to Islam and withou the use of an AK 47

Martin Luther King uses his status as a Religious Leader and Black Leader to found a non-violent movement that in 50 years has operened more doors for Blacks than anywhere else in the world with Sports Figure, Hip Hop and Rap taking the lead in the music scene and burying rock music and in TV and movies making more blacks Millionaires than in anywhere else in the Western world. And it was done without one shot being fired on THEIR side.

Let's get things clear to the IDIOT Atheists out there, if RELIGION VANISHED TOMORROW there would still be fighting in Iran between cultures as to WHO gets the run the country and control the oil weath. Kurds are not a religion. Persians are not a religion. Semites are not a religion.

They will go at each other throats over traidtional cultures and that has nothing to do with religion.

It is like the North and South in America and that has nothing to do with religion, in fact it splintered the Baptist relgion so thoroughly it has YET to fully recover.

And, not, most people WILL NOT use their bare hands. You have to be big, rough and tough for that. Any 9 year old girl can take out a police line with an AK47 and one clip of bulletes.

That same girl wouldn't stand a chance against one police man in a fair fight.

Weapons not only give an unfair advantage they allow you to strike from 20,000 miles away and give no clue as to the origin of the strike.

Both. But I'll take religion if I have to choose. Religion causes people to want to use weapons.

Religion uses weapons. Remove the religion for a more peaceful society.

Religion obviously, since all you need to harm or kill someone is a rock or a big stick. Look at all of the death and suffering through human history, and take a close look at how much of it was caused in the name of religion!

i would say religion, because it seems to be the root of most wars. if u got rid of weapons people would still find a way to kill each other becuase of differing beliefs.
