I have played around on Y!A for a little over nine months now and made some pretty good friends as well as some pretty nasty enemies. I have seen many come & go and it kind of bothers me, but I manage. I know it is impossible to please everyone and personally it would be pretty stupid of me to believe that I could. However, I want to make a difference in someone's life and I know that 99% of you has made an impact on the life of another.
I am not usually this sappy and I apologize for breaking character. I have a request to ask of each and everyone of you. It is a simple request and it oughta not take up too much time or energy. This question is going to be a 24 hour social experiment to break up the monotony of religious debate so often seen on this forum.
I ask that you perform a random act of kindness tomorrow and make a difference in someone's life. It can be big or small. All I ask right now is to draw on your own personal beliefs and make a difference. Will you do it?

As of now this will be a yes or no answer. Then I ask you to edit your answer tomorrow and add the details. I also ask that you star this question and convince atleast two of your friends to answer this.

FYI, this is not a feeble attempt to gather stars. I could care less. Matter of fact, you can take stars away after you given them.
If you look deep enough, this question is very spiritual in nature.

I will chose the best answer with my heart. It will have to be believable and please do not harm yourself doing something stupid. If your good deed manages to make local, US, or world news it will definitely influence my decision.

Just for one time can we not give any thumbs down?

I realize that most good deeds should be done without mentioning them. If you don't want to give the specifics then just tell me if you think it made a difference.

Yes, thanks Malaki for pointing out one of the 5 or 6 errors contained in the body of my question. I enjoy a good laugh here and there even if it is at my own expense. I have a sinus infection and I am on meds at the moment. Thanks for playing.

Beautiful challenge. Yes, I will.

EDIT: Ok..I tried. I was going through the drive thru at McD's and told the lady I wanted to pay for the car behind me. She told me that they weren't allowed to do that. People have tried before, and they can't accept it due to insurance reasons! WHAT!!!
It really got me mad and then depressed.
Now you have me thinking on how pathetic my life is. I'm just another face in the crowd. Someone you'd pass on the street and never think about.
People probably won't even read this post.
I wonder...if I were hit by a bus, would anyone care?
I stay at home, so I have no co-worker friends.
I was very strong at my old Church, but once we changed Church's, those 'friends' don't call anymore.
I'm unimportant.
My life consist of laundry, dishes, vacuuming, dusting, checking homework, cleaning the bathroom etc... I really have no friends right now.
I'm unimportant.

Yes,
I too will love to see all the entries.

(Damn though I had a really good one yesterday at WalMart no less)

Edit well I was in training all day learning about ABA Therapy. We had some hands on with the kids and some were very nervous.
One lady in there seemed to be in full fledged panic and I helped her and talked her through it. At one point I intervened between her and a somewhat violent kid, which she says I saved her head. LOL I don't know about that. I also was very blunt and to the point as to what she did to escalate the kid. Not in an ugly way but one that may help her next time.

I would like to think that I left her feeling a little less helpless. We shall see today if she shows up. :)
And it wasn't a stranger..I kinda knew her.

Sorry that all I did yesterday as when the day was through I was exhausted!

simply put yes =)))))))) I love this one very much thanks for asking it, it 's time for a good one I agree.
EDIT
okay today I spent most of the day while at work thinking of what good deed I could do and because I was thinking so much about it I almost forgot to actually do it. Deep in my thoughts at dinner hour on this very subject, just before I went to a restaurant to eat I was at a store there next to me was a kid who was trying to buy a bag of chips, bar and a soft drink but he didn't have a enough money. So I offered to buy him a lunch(he was hungry I could here his stomach growling) he declined I guess it was because i was a stranger so I gave ten bucks and paid for his chips, bar and pop but on the condition that he buy something healthier first. he promised to so and off he went. I thought to myself good deed done for today but then I thought to myself why not go a little further. Any way, I left a big tip to the waitress who served me and picked up after myself so that it was one less table she would have to clean, I still had an half an hour before going back to work so then I offered help to several people in a store while browsing who couldn't find what they were looking for, showing them where it was too. I decided to do little deeds after I got home to help my friends and family too. I think tomorrow I will do some more of them . Thanks patrick it is good to share with others and to help others, I usually make it a habit to a good deed once a week but this little experiment was so nice that i think I'm going to continue it up through the whole week, it's very refreshing. So thank you once again Patrick for asking such a thing, hey maybe you should ask them all to extend to a week of good deeds.

Yes. I did so this morning and will do so tomorrow also. God leads me to a person and situation everyday. One thing I think everyone should remember about "good deeds", is that TRULY good deeds, always mean sacrificing or choosing against ones self in order to meet the needs of the other person. When the person is not a friend or family member, it is even greater and the sacrifice truly comes from the heart. Peace

I don't think your question is "sappy" at all.
Yes, I think one person can make a difference in the lives of many.
Jesus did.
Yes, I will go and specifically do something special for someone tomorrow, even if it is just to bring some cookies to the old lady across the street. And I will do it in your name.
I think my favorite "random act of kindness" was when I happened to drive by a couple of kids trying to sell, of all things, persimmons to passing motorists. Of course, nobody was interested. I happened to have a bit of extra cash with me at the time, so I stopped and bought five of them for five dollars apeice. Did I make a difference? Well, I don't know...I can only hope those kids had a good supper that night!

I read this question a couple of days ago, and I thought about it. So, I mindfully looked for an opportunity... a person in front of me didn't have enough money to complete a purchase, so I stepped up and volunteered to take care of the needed amount (only a few dollars). I could tell both she and the clerk were stunned.

I just read this today, but I performed several random acts of kindness yesterday. As you know, I'm new to my neighborhood... some ladies were visiting a neighbor I didn't know, and they messed up their front bumper by parking over the curb and then backing out .. it ripped the right front end nearly off.. I had Bryan (my son-in-law) come out and fix it for her.. she said that she'd done it before and it cost her two thousand dollars to have the guy do what bryan did. Another neighbor was having problems with her hedgetrimmers.. I sent John (my son) over to fix that for her. I also cooked dinner for my elderly neighbor. I don't know that it made a huge difference in any of their lives.. but perhaps a small difference is just as valuable.

Yes!

I do try to be aware of people around me and small things that I can do to help out. . .whether or not it makes a difference I don't know. But, helping someone else out makes me feel good. . . .you get a blessing from being a blessing.

Just the other day I noticed a lady struggling w/ her shopping cart as she was trying to unload it and keep it from running away, have we all not been there, lol. I walked up to her and held her cart for her and then returned it for her so that she could go on her way. . .small things. . .that is all we need.

Okay, here's what I did:

This morning I went for coffee and tried to think about what to do; I admit, inspiration doesn't come easily to me. Finally, I just went and bought five lotto quick pics with 3 sets of numbers on each--$15.00

I then gave them to 5 strangers; this was the hardest part. Funny, but people really didn't want to take them. They probably thought I was nuts! I had to explain at length that it was an experiment in random acts of kindness and it took a great deal of reassurance that I wasn't working some scam to get people to take them. Finally, I got them all passed out.

Life changing? Well, assuming the people didn't throw the tickets away after I left, and assuming one or more of them turn out to be significant winners, I suppose it could be life-changing.

Sorry to not come up with anything more imaginative, lol!

yes! :)
wow, I didn't edit yesterday because I didnt get the chance to do anything dramatic, then I check back today, and I realized that I didnt do anything today either. We are all busy, I know but I will try tomorrow. I have done little things, like help people out at work, I always let cars pull out in front of me, little stupid things like that, but that dosent seem to cut it. I will do something big, I promise, I just don't know when or how. I hope it is soon.
