When did you come to the point where you no longer questioned if the Christian god was real or not.

I had been an atheist for years, but only recently came to the conclusion that Christianity is completely wrong. It literally took years for me to come to this point. I often questioned if I was wrong, and even tried to believe a few times that God was real. The thing is, I wanted to have that comfort that Christians have, to know that I would be reunited with my family. It took a long time to accept that it was wrong. After looking at other mythologies, and recognizing the fact it became rather clear that Christianity was wrong.

What was the pivotal point when you finally realized that Christianity was incorrect? Mine was when I found that there were no records of Jesus.. Of course, for me there were more reasons that I do no believe but that was the the pivotal point.

Now I feel a relief I had never experienced before, that I pushed past a point of disbelief to knowledge.

if the proportiional amount of evidence that convinced you of god's existence, was used to show that he didn't exist, would you accept it as proof?

18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I believe all of us are sinners, what ever our religion.I am a catholic but for me my religion cannot help me.And I am fair to all religion because Jesus said forgive them because they dont know what they do.I know all of us only want the truth.

do you think that your belief system is the only possible anser? Do you search for other reasons?

I will be honest. I will be amazed at my sentience. I am quite capable of understanding it, it is remarkable that I experience something that is distinguished (atleast I think at times) from everyone else. I will often hear Christians say things such as how could the Universe be so ordered, or how the Earth could be in such a location it is in, and these questions and answers remind me of the sensation I have of my own existence... Life is quite remarkable, when one refelcts on their own existence it is quite unbelievable that we just happened. But, don't you question why such thoughts would direct you towards Christianity? Don't you think there could be another reason? I do, I think a lot about it. It is beyond spectacular, but at the same time I just admit I don't know.

As a Christian I believe in a Triune God and thus have issues with Islam, however, I do not believe that "Christianity" is error free. So what real errors does Islam correct? I expect opinions here. And please only errors that Islam corrects don't give me your general gripes about various Christian sects unless you can show a relationship to Islam. Thoughtful responses from atheists would be appreciated as well as those from Muslims.

I have noticed many religious people who follow their religion word for word, and they let their beliefs control their lives.
These people pray all of the time and are afraid of commiting a sin or going against Gods word.
It is sad, but that is what mankind has reduced itself to. Good luck, future humans.

What emotions do you feel, what thoughts do you have.

To be fair, I will answer what I feel when I hear the word Christian. I feel that the person is gullible, and slightly delusional. I will not state this as a fact, it is just what I feel based on who I have met. As I have been honest, I ask you to be honest. There is no reason to be politically correct in answering and I will not report you nor do I ask anyone to do so. Be insulting, be honest. Do not try to be politically correct. I want to know what it is that most of you are feeling.. If need be reply in a sock account. Just be honest.

Thanks

For me, I believe that God exists because this universe and the way that it functions to perfection, is just too much of a coincidence to happen by a cosmic explosion of gases billions of years ago... that leads me to believe that I have a Creator, just like this universe and all that is within it.

So ... What tells you that God exists?

I heard that the King James Bible is largely unreliable due to errors in its orignial English transcript...is that so?
I know that there are a lot of Protestant denominations that will strognly deny this (sorry, I wasn't trying to offend any)...but I serisouly want to know, because there are just so many versions of Bible out there and so many Protestant denomiations constnaly argue as to which is the right verison and yeah the jist of it the same it's just that there are still differences on the translations to the point that some verses are subject to different interpretations..

So what is the right version?

Please, take time and think about this.. Do not answer on a gut feeling but take some time into thinking about this.. Put yourself in our shoes.

I have taken years to think about why you believe in God, and still take honest consideration in it. So, I ask you to try to do the same for a few minutes.

Fall is in the Air

Air filled with the splendid colors of leafs that gave me the pleasure of their last memories

Memories of my childhood jumping into leafs that had changed from green to the colors of the rainbow

Rainbow pile of leafs a reflection of who I am now

Now I remember compassion of song

Singing in my fathers church choir

Choir where my friends and I laughed and teased each other before walking up the stairs where we would perform

Performing expressions of what we were taught while expressing myself with my own interpretation of love and music

Music that filled my soul with purpose and being

Being me different but without peace

Peace that is indifferent with childhood memories

Memories that bring back thoughts of apple bobbing

Bobbing for apples that fell from my grandfathers orchard trees

Trees where me and my brother climbed

Climbed up a rock hill where I fell while laughing at my brother's laughter

Laughter that paused for a short time when he passed

Passed to a better place a place where heaven is always fall

Fall my heart went when my grandmother passed

Passed was the blackberry cobbler's she would no longer serve

Served my grandfather a plate of BBQ a few months before he passed

Passing barbecue ribs and pictures of my pets while he sat in slumber not knowing first who I was but shared a story of his admiration of his brother that planted tomato plants where the rain water fell from the house gutters

Gutters not too far from where my great uncle hung himself a few years after his wife passed

Passed family members like the falling leafs of fall

Fall to me is a remembrance of the past

Past me a child remembering my grandfather’s wise words "be a peace maker" and "get a job in a office" words that I followed

Following him in his footsteps he was a WW2 vet and I took an office job in the Marines

Marines where I discovered myself a gay man with a purpose in life

Life me a person that has a love for the passing of one season to another

Another season approaches but I want to stay here in fall

Fall where the air is cool and crisp where my memories are clear

Clear is my love of fall

Fall gives reflection of my childhood

Childhood filled with bad and good

Good thanksgiving dinners where my family appeared happy and cheerful

Cheerful despite the the pain and suffering we experienced being poor

Poor wearing bread sacks over my shoes to protect my feet from the snow

Snow that made my walk to the barn difficult but the beauty of the snow was so overwhelming that my feet felt warm

Soul my mother's love that is unconditional though she lost the love of my father

Father that chose pride and greed over a his own family

Family that persevered through hardship

Hardship a memory still felt but is blinded by my love of fall and my memories of happiness

Happiness me a person that loves fall

Fall a passage from old to new

New me a new beginning.
