What emotions do you feel, what thoughts do you have.

To be fair, I will answer what I feel when I hear the word Christian. I feel that the person is gullible, and slightly delusional. I will not state this as a fact, it is just what I feel based on who I have met. As I have been honest, I ask you to be honest. There is no reason to be politically correct in answering and I will not report you nor do I ask anyone to do so. Be insulting, be honest. Do not try to be politically correct. I want to know what it is that most of you are feeling.. If need be reply in a sock account. Just be honest.

Thanks

Atheist implies "in your face". Someone may say "I'm not religious" or "I'm still thinking about it" and that is polite but if they say "I'm an atheist", I would feel like they're looking for an argument.

I am saddened when I hear that someone is an atheist. I wonder if parents were too strict and forceful when trying to get the person to go to church. I wonder who in the person's life might have instilled the need to deny God. Many people deny God because they want to do things that they know are against the ten commandments. But really, the only laws Christians truly have now are to love the Lord our God with all our hearts and love our neighbors as ourselves. Of course, as Christians, we fall short of that all the time, but that is what we're supposed to try to do. I hope this is what you were looking for and that you weren't fishing for a bunch of angry, hate-filled comments from baby Christians.

At one time I would have said something like the previous answers but I don't have a word now, some are bad and some are good.

Funny you'd use the word delusional. That is the first word that came to my mind about an atheist. Without getting into huge details in this small answer, I ask you to consider this...this computer that I am typing on, the car that I drive, etc., could not exist at random. They had to be created by someone extremely intelligent. Nothing that complicated could just begin to exist on its own. Considering this, where did rabbits come from? How about trees? Or you and me?

i have a difficult time separating my feelings about atheists in general from my feelings about the majority of the atheists posting on this forum-my best friend in the world is an atheist, as is her entire family, and i've always known them to be decent, loving, open-minded folks, as are most of the other atheists i've known personally-would i absolutely love it if they were to come to accept Christ? without a doubt! but that's something they haven't chosen to do, and it's beyond my control (as it should be) and all i can do is show them what Christ has done in my life, pray about it, and leave it at that!
as for the atheists on R&S, that's a different matter entirely-i've seen almost unremitting condescension, a pseudo-intellectualism bordering on the arrogant, extreme sterotyping and sweeping generalization, insults, outright hostility, juvenile taunts and rants, obscenity seemingly designed to 'bait' Christians to angry responses, and a tendency to slam Christians almost exclusively-other faiths seem to be 'off-limits' for their criticism and hatred.
now, i know that there are atheists posting sincerely and 'respectfully' without resorting to sophomoric insults and without compromising their own beliefs-your post is one such, and it deserves a star for sincerity and honesty...but it is nearly invisible in a jungle of vitriol, hyperbole, and venom...i find myself having to step back from time to time and remember that MOST atheists aren't as hateful as what is represented on R&S
i have my own differences with, and criticisms of, FAR too many 'christian' posts on this forum as well-i have addressed them from time to time...but your question was about atheists, and i've rambled on long enough-thanks for the great question! have a fantastic weekend

Well, everyone can be an atheist....!!!I guess, for some circumstances in our life....when we failed to acknowldge Him, His power...to work miraculously for us...when we tend to forget that Someone up there is better than us......when we forgot how much things He did for us....

Thus, the faith that we had...will explain whether we are an atheist or not...!!!
