whom you MUST worship because it loves you more than anyone and will prove it when you die by sending you to Happy Land (or, if you refuse to believe will send you to BADLand for eternity!)...and HERE!- I can prove it to you on pages 401-520 & 772-805 of this here antiquated book of non-fiction, would you believe me?

It is, of course , the "true religion", because you know that, because it's the truth, because it says so in a book. Would you teach this to your child. Do you think some intellectual scrutiny might be called for here. What if the majority of others have believed for CENTURIES in the toilet tree fairy? Would that make a difference in your mind? How would feel about the toilet tree fairy giving you the "free will" to make a choice in this life - believe in it and live in peace eternally, or don't believe and be tortured forever? Simple. A. Believe and you're all good. B. Don't believe and you're goin' through the corrugated irrigation pipe and into the sewers of Hell!

Where I live the only Mormon stuff on TV are commercials offering a free book of Mormon or KJV, or telling you to not steal and do drugs.

But in Utah there must be televangalist begging for "love offerings" and guranteeing wealth, health, love and heaven if you give them your life savings like the Born Again Televengalists?

Check out this letter I got from "CJ" and then please give me your comments:
(START)
From: CJ
Subject: Re: hey you:
Message: "Mother" Teresa believed the false gospel of catholicism. Apparently you believe it too. It leads to eternal hell. I would be unchristian and unloving like you if I didn't warn people about it, and I will not stop warning people about catholicism that leads to eternal hell.
You're an angry violent man, just like the genocidal Vatican that you obey. I'd expect one like you to kill me as your "leaders" did and do.
(END)

Isn't that a nice example of Christian love? What do you guys think?

We as human being are made up of spirit and body. For instance: what part of you does the thinking? What part of you decide to watch tv? What part of you pick up your keys? What part of you meditate? What part of you causes you to sin?

If he eventually loved people enough to send his only son to break his deal to torture everyone who didn't follow a few strict rules, and knew this was going to happen... Why make the original deal to torture everyone but the Jews who obey his several hundred laws to begin with?...

As most here are aware, Jesus performed many miracles such as healing and curing the sick, infirmed and demon-possessed. While he performed many, this one event really sticks out.

Before the passover, Jesus performed one of his most remarkable miracles-raising a dead man who was buried for 4 years. Because of this there was much popular excitement, and the religious leaders said among themselves: “What are we to do, because this man performs many signs? If we let him alone this way, they will all put faith in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” (John 11:1-48)

The Jewish leaders here acknowledged the resurrection of the deceased individual, not attributing the raising of the dead to any trickery, yet they did not place faith and accept Jesus as the Messiah. How can this be reconciled? Please, serious replies only.

if he were 600 months old, he would be 50... having only 3 children and no grandchildren would be much more believable.
and that's a low estimate... considering there were no contraceptives and television back then, he could have had 20 children at 50.

"Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation."

what do you think?

If so, what do you do for fun? In a culture like ours drinking is seems like the only way to have fun. However, I don't drink...as a result I have no friends. It seems that going to the movies is so 8th grade...and that you can only have a nice time by incorporating alcohol into your evening.

I'm curious how you keep up with society. Do you have other born again christian friends to support you?

Christians in particular (though this is true of many other religions as well) believe in a rational, cognitive God. This is a God who set down a number of rules by which humanity was to govern their behavior. Why does it surprise anyone that he would also set down rules to govern the rest of creation as well, in the form of scientific laws?

Science is nothing more than a systematic evaluation of our enviroment through use of the senses. Human senses have limitations. Therefore science, even though extremely useful, also has limitations. It cannot explain the spiritual or the ethereal. That is the function of religion. But is it not patently false to say that in accepting the one you must reject the other? Can people not be both scientific AND religious?

Religious people say they go by faith? Why, isn't that dangerous? I mean I wouldn't waste my life on something I'm not even sure is there; controlling your kids, killing witches, hating other religious followers, create wars in his name because your “faith” is so strong. That's like saying you have "faith" a murderer killed this guy, yet all the facts say it's not him, in fact you actually have proof on who it really is, yet you ignore these overwhelming facts because you possess faith?!? Doesn't make sense in a murder trial, why would it make sense in real life?

Please note that this is a two part question. Don't forget to answer them both.
1) Why do you believe, assuming you do?
and
2) Why do you think other people believe?

Atheists need not reply, unless you are like me, and just want the two points.
